President Bush continued to host the G8 Summit from Georgia today as the UN unanimously approved a resolution on Iraq. During a brief media Q&A today, Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi paid honored President Reagan saying, "First of all, I would like to express my condolences to the pass away of President Reagan. I would like to pay respect to his achievement, especially in numerous achievements, especially in strengthening our Japan-U.S. bilateral relationship." Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!
They both came to power when the country was deeply divided, (although Reagan won by a wide margin)
They both cut taxes in order to improve the economy
They both faced a murderous idioligy that threatened the very freedoms we hold dear
They both shared a deep belief in God
They both had a space shuttle crash while in office and had to console a grieving nation.
They both saw their tax policies turn an economy around
Reagan was no doubt a better speaker, but Ronald Reagan never had to face the challenges that George W. Bush has faced and is facing during his 8 years.
I will guarantee everyone that of Ronald Reagan was alive and able to witness the job George W. Bush has been doing since he became the POTUS, Ronald Reagan would place his hand on his shoulder and say "Soldier on my Son"
Enough is enough. I am already on blood pressure meds. I think I need to sign off until tomorrow.
rintense, thanks for the pictures. Seeing Berlusconi and others reminds me of how far we have come from September 11. And I am pleased to see the fast friendships of some of these men still remains.
Good night!
There's a shorter name--ThePest. (Just kidding!)
FReepmail to you-- :-)
BUMP.
Beautifully stated
and bull's eye accurate.
I will NOT say "yes" unless it's clean. Their friendship is interesting--Dana's mom keeps their house spotless all the time. I'm sure she (Dana's mom) about has a heart attack when she sees ours. It's not nasty filthy dirty, but there are usually dishes in the sink and laundry to be folded.
On the other hand, Dana has NO pets. I mean NONE. They have a little fish pond out back, and bring the fish in for the winter, but that is ALL. And her mom will NOT get her any sort of pet, even a beta fish or hamster. So Dana just loves to come over and help with all of our pets.
Laura does look fabulous, doesn't she?
***"By Friday night, THE LEFT IS GOING TO EXPLODE" ***
I'll be listening for the FOX gong (Breaking News) and Shep Smith saying, "Here is the breaking news; Hillary, Teddy, and John Kerry have just spontaneously combusted, in apparent response to the support of the Rep. party, Former Pres. Ronald Reagan, and current (and future) Pres. George W. Bush. Tom Dashole's head has exploded and a HAZMAT team is on the way . . . the capitol has been evacuated as a precaution . . . Bill is melting in a local McDonalds, which has also been evacuated till the hazardous waste can be cleaned up . . . And Nancy Pelosi's head is spinning uncontrollably in 360 degree circles and she's foaming at the mouth. Further developments announced as they occur . . . "
Off topic a bit, and thanks Rintense for the pictures and for the vivid images of what you would do to that guy I never heard of till tonite but already despise,
Anyway, what I was going to say is, I've been wondering about Fr. Danforth. The Church (Episcopal) has been going through quite a lot of trouble lately between conservatives and liberals. I have been Very Mad at the EC leadership for at least ten years. I wonder which side Fr. Danforth is on... I hope he is conservative.
In the quick blurbs I've seen today, many young children are also going thru the line. Pray that this is a revival of family values, Christian values, as their parents tell them about Pres. Reagan and what he stood for, and what Pres. Bush stands for.
I am definitely with you on this one, but just remind me never to make you mad.
That would be awful. I can't even be at school without my pets. I have three fish and two frogs and our family has two dogs and two cats. I always miss the dogs and cats at school :( I like to scare my mom by telling her I'm never getting married, I'm just gonna have twenty cats :)
I told my wife back in 1989 that Ronald Reagan will go down in history as one of the best presidents ever to serve. She laughed and said "why?" I told her that he lifted a weary nation to its feet and made it believe in itself again, he stood tall and faced down the threat of the Soviet Union, and it will end up on the ash heap of history. About 4 years ago I told her that when "Dutch" passes away, we will see the world pay respects to the man who defeated Communism and a nation paying respects to a man who saved America and the world.
I will say right now that George W. Bush will one day be remembered as the President Ronald Reagan passed the torch to, and saved the world from a different kind of Tyranny, but just as dangerous. What is happening in the middle east will change the course of history, and IMHO, for the greater good of mankind
Hi rintense, that's a great first picture .. I love the red white and blue cart .. how cute. Also, thanks for repeating that statement the President made about President Reagan .. I saw him say that today .. and right away I thought .. President Bush could be speaking about himself.
I hope the public catches on.
Your house sounds like a LOT more fun.
That sounds like a WONDERFUL news story. I'll be waiting to hear it :)
Thanks for thread Rintnese..wonderful photo,. I havent read the entire thread but recall hearing the other day that either 41 or 43 did their honeymoon at this island? correct or bad info?
Homemom..the unbuttoned shirt is nice.. but I am STILL waiting for the muscleshirt & shorts!
We on Dose need to make up a muscle shirt for him .. with Dose items, logos, etc. Just like he gets from the football, basketball jerseys (he never wears)..
Tell him his drooling fan base would REALLY love to see him model it!
I leave for DC early in AM. Just talked w/Kristinn(pres of DC group).. we will be meeting them at 4PM... Oliver needs a bath to be prepared for the cortege travel route. I need a bath to not gross out new FReeper friends!
Oliver is now outside protecting the yard from foreign invader elements (deer & raccoon).. both now on roof & some racoon in trees around house.
The First Couple looked absolutely STUNNING today -- blue is definitely the President's color [BTW: Is he losing weight again?!]
I am so very pleased with the Reagan ceremonies thus far,
and IMO, the funeral as it has been described, will be not
only fitting for his greatness, but also down home American.
We are burying and bidding farewell to the greatest
president of the last centruy, bar none.
I totally agree with you.
His torch has been passed to GWB, and
come this November we must "win one for the Gipper."
A Bush vicotry with long GOP coattails.
I wonder which side Fr. Danforth is on... I hope he is conservative.
He has been a moderate conservative republican.
Know what you are saying. I think the Episcopal
church will split. The consrvatives are more
angol-catholic. We have several a-c priests here.
Our Bishop who is about to retire is very Conservative.
