Senator Edwards is liked inside Kerry headquarters, as evidenced by the Edwards bumper stickers in some cubicles.

Might also explain why Kerry stole Edwards idea for his plane

Gee what a match they make

Edwards will not be chosen for a very simple reason. Envisage a Cheney / Edwards debate. Cheney's command of his material and facts will make Edwards look like an airhead.

Not that he needed help, mind you.

Regards, Ivan

My prediction has been it would be someone from the central time zone...someone that they think could deliver 1 state that might otherwise be close.

I agree in principle, but would phrase it differently.

"edwards' biggest problem is that he is an idiot".

that single "two americas" stump speech is, you're right,
literally ALL he has. it wouldn't last through a national
campaign.

That didn't stop Gore from naming Lieberman as his running mate. The Cheney/Lieberman debate was the most lopsided affair in national politics since Admiral Stockdale stepped to the plate as Ross Perot's running mate in 1992.

I agree 100% with you - The Kerry camp leaked these two names in order to create the "surprise" VP pick (which will be someone else).

The media will fawn over this BOLD and obviously brilliant pick -

My guess is Bill Richardson - or the VA Gov.

I would bet $ to doughnuts that it isn't Edwards, Hillary,Gephart or Clark.

if Edwards is picked - it will be solely to appeal to women voters.

Uh, why? 'cause he looks nice? or because he has a voting
record that would strongly appeal to women?

I think it will be Edwards and he will be groomed big time for 2008. Kerry is a Dem sacrifice and the party knows it.

the 2008 nominee (assuming Kerry loses) is Hillary. Period.

I have a friend who is quite astute when it comes to politics, and he predicted (without any inside knowlege, as far as I know) months ago that the VP candidate would be someone who was not running in the Democratic primaries.

Ford is someone to watch down the road, but he is too fake. A few years back, he was Maxine Waters-lite. Very negative. A little over the top. He's since wised up. He plays to whomever is listening. He's articulate, but uses alot of big words that sound forced;... like he's on a job interview. He's a lot like Evan Bayhe(sp). Too smooth in a creepy sorta way. He's a climber. He's just looking for power. He'll run screaming from the CBC if it suits his purpose. He doesn't scare me at all.

. . . and edwards is a huge lightweight. if the dems lose
in 2008, even if he is the dem VP nominee, he will spend 8
years out of national politics. not running for reelection
to the senate was a telling decision, and an admission of abject weakness.

how does being out of politics for 8 years "groom" someone
for national office?

I respectively disagree. If the party ever wants to regain political power, it simply cannot do that. And they know it. She wouldn't pick up enough votes in the south to even make it a race.

It is possible she may try to go for it, but the Clintons are yesterday's news and she will be even more stale by 2008.

The Dems desperately need fresh faces and Edwards is one of them -- and proved it in the primaries. I don't like his politics, but he will be a vote getter.

wow. ballsey statement.

where ARE all of these women that vote for a president
strictly on the basis of his looks? because I haven't
met one yet. well, not since college (or so). well,
not one that I didn't consider dumb as dirt for a hundred
OTHER good reasons.

I think nicole kidman is a massively hot babe, but I would
never vote for her . . .
