Exactly. Why spend all the energy and raise one's blood pressure over something that hasn't and may or may not happen. If it does, then get angry.

Re:"A renewal of this ban will be the end of my financial support of the Republican Party for starters."

For the past year I have returned every RNC envelope empty except for a brief note: Repeal federal gun control laws, protect our borders from invaders, balance the budget.

My vote and my money are contingent on principled behavior, and I'm tired of excuses. Keeping Democrat communists out of office isn't good enough when Republicans appoint activist judges and co-opt the nanny state tactics of the left just to maintain viability with the infantile swing voting electorate.

If the republicans won't stand up to the erosion of our constitutional rights, our money is better spent on arms and ammunition. We will know where to put it to the best use. The time of indecision is drawing to a close.

I don't think I need to write my Senators about opposing the Clinton gun ban. I live in Utah and I know both of my Senators oppose this ban.

Should I write them and encourage them to filibuster?

He was a RINO when first elected in 1978. Sen. Elizabeth Taylor has never been anything else since.

I just include 10 pesoes and a note saying when you start to OBEY your Oath of Office I will include some fiat notes. Defend the US Constitution not the UN Charter!

I remember how this ban was first enacted. I lost a lot of faith in my government on that day.

I also remember Bush-41's anti-gun nonsense and his promotion of thuggery by the ATF. I have no love for leaders who make war against their own people. I was glad to see that two-faced lying bastard go.

I was less please to see him replaced with another two-faced lying bastard, but their agendas were hard to distinguish toward the end, frankly.

Expressing opposition to this unconstitutional travesty is important, but in the end, I am braced for another betrayal from those I have voted for.

I am not a single-issue voter, but I am now a registered Libertarian (I was originally a Republican from the age of 18) after that and a series of other betrayals by the Republican Party. I refuse to stay in dysfunctional relationships.

I still pretty much vote a straight Republican ticket these days (will never, ever vote for Communist Democrats), and I have been considering rejoining the Republican Party in recent years, but if the Republicans allow this to go through, I'm out for good.

That's not a single issue, that's just an expression of the kind of people I will or will not ally myself with. I won't join up with backstabbers.

I've been burned before, and my trust must now be re-earned.

I'll be watching.

Amen, with the exception that I withdrew my support for and dropped my affiliation with the Republican party after a series of betrayals by "sporting purpose", "import ban" Bush-41.

Just like Bush-41 tore up his NRA life membership, I tore up my Republican life membership after he and other leading Republicans spat on the Constitution. Screw him and screw them, I will never forgive or forget their despicable acts.

The last straw was when this ban was first enacted. Seeing so many Republicans sign on to that Bill Crime was too much for me, and I became a bitter Libertarian, refusing to take credit for or associate myself in any way with such unconstitutional thuggery.

I am reconsidering my affiliation, but won't change it until after I see where this and other Republican policies end up.

That's not a single-issue threat or drama queen whining, it's just a statement of fact.

If AWB gets renewed, my extensive collection of pre-bans will become more valuable, but I will wipe my feet of the dubious "two-party system" forever, and invest my time and treasure in working to replace them with parties less invested in corruption and pandering.

>>A lot of people, including a lot of Freepers, don't understand the impact that a renewal will have on the Republican Party.<<

We currently have a President who announced a long time ago that he would sign this bill if it makes it to his desk. The Republican leaders, and I use that word loosely, have had a couple of years to adopt a plan of action to prevent this from happening. Just the fact that the Bill has made it to the floor shows quite a bit about their inaction and perhaps their true intentions.

Our Legislation has been promoting the NWO through Agenda 21 since the early 90's. President Bush#1 had the decency to tell us that.

His sons advisors realized that an educated voter base would demand the RNC get us a American patriot who supports the US Constitution to vote for, so President Bush#2 hasn't mentioned anything about a new world order plan but he certainly is working towards one. Part of that is to remove all firearms from the population.

I am fed up with re-electing legislators who don't have your family and mines best interest at heart. We need to clean out the Senate and the House of all elected officials who the the UN Charter is better than the Constitution. This idea of voting for Republicans because it's "our party" has gottten us into the mess we are in.

Voting for someone because the RNC puts him in front of us isn't such a wonderful idea either. We need to tell them the minimum requirements (willing to fight for the Constitution) and say, "Go find him for us, then we'll give you some cash."

This is my opinion of the political parties:
If you remove your trousers, stand with your back to a full length mirror, tug your underwear firmly upwards until it is set all the way into the crack in your buttocks, you will see our two party government system. Not much difference in the parties but there is always an a-hole claiming attachment to just one side and he's going to save us from ourselves.

We need to get back to the Parties with actual differences. Early in the term, seeing Senator Kennedy joking with President Bush was enough to make me puke. That's when President Bush was pushing his "compassionate" ideas for the children of the world, not telling us that by leaving the borders open they would all be here in our schools.

When we have six out of nine Supreme Court judges who think they need to consider the "international effects" of their decisions before obeying their Oath of Office that is 100% positive indication that the Constitution is 2nd in their mind and the 2nd Amendment is last in their mind.

I am angry at myself because I voted for Bush#1 and Bush#2. Both of the deceived me. Yup, I was suckered in because they said they are Republicans.

This idea of the Republican majority. "a Republican Senate a Republican House and a Republican President," hasn't done us one bit of good.

If we do have major unrest or a second civil war it will in effect have been federally mandated by the corruption in our own government. It will be because the legislators themselves didn't stand up and say. "My Oath of Office reqires me to protect the Constitution not a foreign government."

Oh yes, we will have our share of the blame to carry on our shoulders for not remembering that it is our duty to control government not government to control us.

Just the fact we allowed the 1st Assault Weapons Ban to occur is shameful. We had 10 years to whine about what ineffective voters we are but instead we decided to place the blame on the legislators.

Folks IMO, unless you want to see the SHTF on the street in front of your home, it is time we do something about the type of elected officials we put in to office! They should be better Constitution supporters and bigger patriots than we are if that's possible.

Write them to thank them, and ask them to try to buck up the RINOs with a little spare backbone.

Getting angry at that point won't do much good, getting angry now, and letting the poliwhores see that anger, might help prevent passage. Maybe not, but if not then the courts, which haven't done their jobs so far, and the "reset button" are about the only options left.

awesome thinking! The problem is that what you have said cannot be challenged. To chanllenge means that it will have to be disprooved.......so it will be ignored? a terrible option.

Didn't Bush-41 tear up his NRA card because LaPierre called the ATF "Jack-booted thugs"? I remember that, even before I got into the politics thing. I thought it seemed like he needed any reason to get out of the NRA. Yes, RINOs are thick in the party.

Want my vote? Earn it. Stop this now.

Well no, they couldn't care less about your vote. To most suburban soccor moms this is a non issue at best or, more likely, one that they side with the anti-gunners on.

The garbage on the sponsor list is voted for by the majority of the electorate in those states, and the majority is truly represented by garbage.

Why spend all the energy and raise one's blood pressure over something that hasn't and may or may not happen.

Because we need to put pressure on our legislators NOW. Not five minutes before, or after, they vote. It is on the calander, which means it has made it through the first half dozeon or so legislative hurdles. It should be considered a valid threat and treated as such.

After it becomes LAW, it is that much harder to get it done away with again. Let's not go there. Writing a few letters now is much easier than trying to gain back our Rights once they have been taken from us.
