Good Grief ! Thousands upon thousands of everyday people stand in line in a hot, shadeless parking lot for hours to get on a bus to the library, then stand in line to view the casket, and then back in line again for the bus back to their cars. For some people that has translated to 9 or 10 hours out of their day. Traffic is backed up in places for 5 miles but Kerry sashshayes up in his limo, with his film crew in tow, goes to the head of the line, makes the sign of the cross for the cameras, then he is outta there but not without giving a thumbs up to the working press from the back seat of his limo on the way to his private jet.

Now ask yourself, why did he think it necessary to intrude on the viewing in Simi Valley when within 72 hrs he will be an invtited guest at 2 official events of the state funeral in DC ? Did he think his being there mattered to Mrs Reagan, or the mourners he inconvienced at the library or Republicans in general ? No ! He did not care. He went there for a photo op, to give Peter, Tom and Dan a lead story for their evening broadcast and for some upcoming campaign ad.

Not only that but 1) he said he was "suspending" his campaign this week, and 2) he made invidious comparisons between Bush and Reagan. The media picked it right up, even emphasizing that he was catholic and made the sign of the Cross. They all got together over the weekend to figure out a way to use this. They have politicized it just like the Wellstone funeral only this time I bet they get away with it. Next we will hear how Bush is "politicizing" this while Kerry was just honorably showing his respect. It is beyond belief, particularly if peo0ple buy it.
