I heard that too, almost the same way. I was braced for Keillor himself to say something hateful, knowing how he loathed Reagan. But he himself was classy. I was appalled at the catcalls and cheers and, like you, waited to see whether he'd slap them down.

Nope.

Now, that would be an odd step-aside from the format. But he could have said SOMETHING. My most charitable thought is that he's kicking himself for not doing so.

I didn't hear the show; however, I think what you're talking about is standard-issue "leftist angry approval applause." You'll notice that leftists rarely just laugh at a political joke -- if they like it, they'll clap loudly. If you have the opportunity to watch them do it, you'll notice their expressions, which are feral and angry.

They're also the ones whose cars still have Gore/Leiberman (or even Nader/LaDuke) bumper stickers on their cars.

I don't particularly mind honest liberals. But the "angry liberal clappers" are not sane.
