Singer Announces Reagan's Death During Concert, Wishes It Was Bush Instead

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND (Talon News) -- Controversy ensued during a live concert appearance in Ireland when British music act and ex-Smiths lead singer Morrissey announced to his fans that former President Ronald Reagan had died. The singer then added that he wished current President George W. Bush had died instead.

The concert crowd, attending the event at Dublin Castle, actually cheered upon hearing that Reagan died after a decade-long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Yet, when Morrissey opined that he wished Bush had died, the crowd allegedly erupted into a tizzy.

Tony Murray, a Morrissey fan who attended the concert, confirmed what was said.

"[Morrissey] commented about the death of Ronald Reagan and when he wished that it was George W instead the crowd went wild," Murray told the Manchester News.

Morrissey is currently on tour in Europe.

A Sanctuary Records spokesman said they have been unable to confirm the exact comments made by Morrissey, but dismissed them as irrelevant since the singer is "no stranger to controversy."

"[A]s far as we can tell, Morrissey was just alerting the audience to the fact that Ronald Reagan had died," the spokesman said in a statement. "He then simply followed that up with his comment about George Bush, which was his own opinion."

Babs Streisand and her minions are choking that they haven't been able to crow precisely the same thing.

Shut up and sing. Better yet, shut up and go home.

I sure wish it had been Morrissey who died instead of Johnny Cash.

Hey Morrisey,

Ever hear of the Dixie Chicks?

Say bye bye to your 'career' pal.

Morrissey's career died years ago.

Does Morrisey still have a career? This is the first I've heard from him in about 12 years. "The Queen Is Dead" was the only decent album The Smiths ever put out, and his solo stuff just flat out blows. I thought he'd long since hung it up and went into delivering pizzas for a living.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Morrissey is currently on tour in Europe.

That is because he could not sell out a free concert at a local bar in the US. This loser is a major has been. I don't doubt he hates Reagan and Bush, but he was probably mostly trying to get his name in the paper.

Being that he`s a George Michael clone, I`m not suprised. Thank you for helping Bush get re-elected Ms. Morrissey. Everytime you morons start, especially you Euroweenie morons, another undecided becomes decided in the US. So far I know about 7 close to me who are voting for Bush for that reason alone. To quote my Mother, "Howard Dean and Al Gore are scary and all this talk about hating Bush, I don`t want them in the White House!" SO PLEASE KEEP IT UP!

"the crowd erupted into a tixxy"

What does that mean? The crowd supported or opposed his comments? If they cheered the death of Reagan, why would they be offended by an anti-Bush comment?

That's pretty sad Happygal. You and I may need to set up a youth reeducation camp in Phoenix Park.

The level of hatred on the left has increased exponentially. Really makes one wonder about how scared they are of extinction.

I read somewhere recently that he had another album coming out. The album must need as much help as it can get and I guess this is his way of getting noticed.
