Maybe so. When I did a search for the title of this article, one came up from a columnist at Jewish World Review. I don't think he referenced Stanton either. Maybe it's just one of those sayings that people think has been around forever.
I notice that too, Torie. My guess is that she just assumed her readers would be familiar with it. It is pretty widely known. Had I used it, I would have worked the citation into the essay.
