Unfair blast at Kerry. He is doing the right thing. He is showing respect the office which he seeks, and honoring a man who had such a great impact in his lifetime on American history. Traducing those that honor Reagan while being an opponent of his politics, just isn't my cup of tea. I dissent.

I join in your dissent.

Are we becoming no different than the Hutus and Tutsis?

No, he's not. Refrain from campaigning? Ok.

Using Reagan's death to try to get votes is bull.

Would Kerry be paying tribute if he weren't running for President??

He doesn't have to go there. It's phony to go--people know he had no love for Reagan.

Do you really think he'd be there if there were no cameras?

"Unfair blast at Kerry."

Bullcrap! If he wants to pay his respects, he can do so in Washington, which is where he's supposed to be, doing the job he's drawing pay for, when he isn't campaigning.

"He is showing respect the office which he seeks, and honoring a man..."

If that turns out to be all he does while he's there, then I will agree with you. I guess we're going to find out whether he intends to bask in the limelight intended for another and uses the occasion for a press conference and photo ops.

I agree with you. It seems like there are those here that want it both ways. Seems Dems are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

You are naive. He's going for the photo op - nothing more. He's appearing to move more to the right. You don't see Chuckie Schumer and Hillary Clinton buzzing over do you? Nancy Pelosi's office refuses to issue a statement at all about President Reagan. Snap out of it!

Of course he should pay his respects, but he should do it in Washington when RR's body is received by the house and senate. THAT is the proper place for it.

Going to California, where the people are getting a rare chance to pay THEIR respects is over the line. The disturbance his "visit" will cause will result in a lot fewer real people to be able to pay their respects.

Kerry is going for the photo op and to glad hand the people waiting in line. I would be more impressed if Kennedy, Daschle, Hiliary and Pelosi were waiting in line.

Balderdash and sanctimonious hokum. Kerry's doing it only to get some face-time on national television (after a 'lost week' of campaigning); and to try to ride the huge wave of sympathy for Ronald Reagan.

Kerry tried to undermine RR at every turn while Reagan was in office -- from opposing Pershing missiles in Europe, to calling RR a "bully" over the invasion of Grenada, to trying to destroy RR through the the hyped-up Iran-contra 'scandal.' Don't give us this cr@p that Kerry's "honoring" Ronald Reagan.
