In this day of self indulgence and free use of anyone and anything to serve one's own needs or ambition I am getting a "Pepcid" feeling in my gut.A Maalox moment is coming on.
If you will, cast your minds back to the days shortly after 9-11 and recall President Bush speaking at the National Cathedral. He was speaking to heal and to balm the national wounds.I remember being troubled by the adoring Media which could NOT keep its' cameras on Mr. Bush but instead lingered, fawning over Bill Clinton who just HAD to be present. I recall after the ceremony how Clinton stood outside in the center of the wide stone steps, so all who exited would have to march past in grief,Bubba the consoler, soaking up the attention like a sponge, ever needing to be the focal point.
President Reagan will be used by many as he lies in State. They will come before the presence of greatness, eager to be seen and held in the gravity of such a man,in the comet's tail as it were....
I urge you all to stock up on stomach remedies in the meantime ,and come let us devine together, who shall be the Grandest Media Whore of All?.
Hillary Clinton and John Kerry are both positioning themselves for this honor.
Mr Clinton's "Legacy" has LONG SINCE been overshadowed by Mr Reagan--&, perhaps, "W";--Mr Clinton accomplished Little, & his "War" in Bosnia may be regarded as one of America's Greatest Blunders!! (we MAY have supported the WRONG SIDE!!)
"Clinton" is to "Reagan," as "McKinley" is to FDR!!
"W" is YET to be Judged, but, so far, he looks a LOT MORE like "Reagan" than he looks like "Clinton." Americans Instinctively Know our True Leaders; Mr Reagan was our Leader--Mr Clinton was NOT.
America Survives Despite occassional poor Leadership--THAT is part of our strength.
ANY NATION capable of producing a "Ronald Reagan" will survive.
