Testifying as the man accused of murdering your daughter looks on is something Teresa Vanderheiden doesn't wish on anybody.
"You try to keep your eyes focused on one thing," Vanderheiden said. "I remember looking at the clock a lot, thinking that would avoid it. But your eyes meet."
Anger flashed through Vanderheiden as -- in separate trials -- she came face to face with the men accused of murdering her 25-year-old daughter, Cyndi, in 1998.
"They're looking at you and as you look down and see them, you want to " Vanderheiden, speaking from her Clements home, trailed off for a moment. "You just want to get rid of them."........

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Testimony is set to resume Monday in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial.
Peterson's deceased wife's half-sister is scheduled to return to the witness stand.
Amy Rocha testified last week about the frantic scene at the Petersons' home on the day Laci Peterson was reported missing. ........

Peterson's Martha Defense
By CHRIS TAYLOR
Monday, Jun. 14, 2004
Martha Stewart was back in the legal spotlight last week at another high-profile trial that has obsessed the media. As Scott Peterson went on trial for the murder of his pregnant wife Laci, the defense scored a surreal but key point by playing a videotape of the TV homemaker. Peterson had said that on the morning the prosecution says he killed Laci, she was watching Stewart talk about meringue. The Modesto, Calif., police department claimed no meringue was mentioned on Stewart's show that morning. But Peterson attorney Mark Geragos, in his opening statement, played the tape and showed otherwise.
That was just the first of many early embarrassments for the authorities. Geragos has displayed a talent for getting prosecution witnesses to point out inaccuracies in police reports. While prosecutors were trying to show that Laci was too tired to walk the family dog, as Peterson claims she was going to do the last time he saw her, they also inexplicably pointed out that she was able to go to a salon and a spa and buy about $100 worth of groceries that day. "It's a bit confusing what the prosecution is doing at this point," says former San Francisco district attorney Jim Hammer. ..........

Brent and Amy have motive to kill Laci, especially since she was about to have a baby. Two way split (does Brent have kids?) is better than a 4 way. Geragos brings up trust fund. I think he's going to implicate Laci's family. Oh boy.
On SP's job, Geragos in opening said that tax returns will show he made $66k last year or the year before. Any bets that's gross income for the business.
From the testimony, Laci shopped the day before at Trader Joe's...why would she go shopoping again??
Oops..forgot to spell check... ;o)
Agree!
Update on Ron's day on the stand.

She was supposed to get 500 grand on her 30th birthday? If that's true, omigosh...
---
I think it is true. I either read it on CTV or Webslueths. Sharon testified to it, Geragos addressed it. Laci and her brother were to split about 1M in inheritance from Grandpa.
I love this last statement by Ron...snipped from the modbee update...
"In fact, its still in my garage," Grantski said, noting that the quality of reel was better than ones he used. But under cross-examination by Geragos, Grantski acknowledged that he also decided to go fishing Dec. 24, 2002, at the same time Peterson did without notifying anybody. But he interjected one difference, saying his fishing spot was "90 miles closer."
Geragos, in his opening statement, told jurors Peterson had told his wife and a friend about the boat but wanted to keep it secret from Grantski until Christmas morning.

WHAT WHAT WHAT--- How can Geragos Sleep at night.
The boat a surprise for Grantski?? That's not what Snot said on National TV. Scott said it was a Christmas surprise for Laci.. Didn't He??? Where's the transcript of the TV Interview???
Thanks for the update regarding Ron. I guess Rose Rocha just gave some damning testimony - when they announced the pregnancy she asked Scott if he was ready and he said that he was hoping for infertility. Many in the court made a noise and Scott shook his head and mouthed "That's crap."
I remember hearing that Brent's wife was pregnant a year or two ago. And I don't know if that was his first child--may not have been.
I hadn't known about the trust fund. I wonder what, if anything, Scott knew about it?
We could theorize that Scott would not want to kill her before she turned 30, right, b/c he would then be "killing the goose" so to speak. BUT we could also look at it another way: once Laci got that money, she would be entirely independent of Scott. Maybe he didn't like the idea that she would then be able to thumb her nose at him and his philandering. Strange as it may seem, it would not be the first time that a philanderer wanted very much to stay married. (I realize that that is a complete turnaround from what I was thinking before: that Scott really wanted to be single again.)
Needless to say, I can't imagine either Brent or Amy as a murderer.
"So how'd they find caffeine in her system?"
Has that been confirmed or just rumor? I thought all the organs were gone (except of course the uterus). My memory is not the best so maybe someone will correct me.
Regarding caffiene...perhaps it was Conner that had the caffiene.
...anyone see the trannies yet???
I'm trying to avoid reading the transcripts - it will take up too much of my time. I sure am tempted, though. I don't like getting info through the media.
Yes, it looks like it's true!
I wonder if the birth of a child to any of the 3 (Laci, Brent, Amy) would have really caused it to be split 4 ways instead of 3? I would think that instead, it would work this way: that the money would be split among those 3, and that only if one of the 3 had died would that deceased persons child(ren), if any, would get their 1/3.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
Hey! Brent's older than Laci; FWIW, seems like he'd come into his share before his two sisters would get theirs...
How old is Brent? I just know he was older than Laci.
Has that been confirmed or just rumor?
---
If I remember correctly C. Wecht tried to explain their findings months ago about the caffeine in her system.
Today one of our friends here said they found it through Connor's system.
I don't even know who Rose Rocha is. But that sure would've been a crude thing for him to say!
And I see that it caused him to lose his cool. (chuckle)
