Testifying as the man accused of murdering your daughter looks on is something Teresa Vanderheiden doesn't wish on anybody.

"You try to keep your eyes focused on one thing," Vanderheiden said. "I remember looking at the clock a lot, thinking that would avoid it. But your eyes meet."

Anger flashed through Vanderheiden as -- in separate trials -- she came face to face with the men accused of murdering her 25-year-old daughter, Cyndi, in 1998.

"They're looking at you and as you look down and see them, you want to … " Vanderheiden, speaking from her Clements home, trailed off for a moment. "You just want to get rid of them."........

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Testimony is set to resume Monday in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial.

Peterson's Martha Defense

By CHRIS TAYLOR

Monday, Jun. 14, 2004

Martha Stewart was back in the legal spotlight last week — at another high-profile trial that has obsessed the media. As Scott Peterson went on trial for the murder of his pregnant wife Laci, the defense scored a surreal but key point by playing a videotape of the TV homemaker. Peterson had said that on the morning the prosecution says he killed Laci, she was watching Stewart talk about meringue. The Modesto, Calif., police department claimed no meringue was mentioned on Stewart's show that morning. But Peterson attorney Mark Geragos, in his opening statement, played the tape and showed otherwise.

That was just the first of many early embarrassments for the authorities. Geragos has displayed a talent for getting prosecution witnesses to point out inaccuracies in police reports. While prosecutors were trying to show that Laci was too tired to walk the family dog, as Peterson claims she was going to do the last time he saw her, they also inexplicably pointed out that she was able to go to a salon and a spa and buy about $100 worth of groceries that day. "It's a bit confusing what the prosecution is doing at this point," says former San Francisco district attorney Jim Hammer. ..........

There's a story on CTV that says Sharon testified that after Laci went missing, she learned that Snott cheated early in the marriage and that Laci knew. CTV is saying that this testimony elicited by Geragroid "helps" Snott.
I disagree...if Laci knew and told of the first affair, why, IF she knew about Amber, wasn't there a soul that knew???

I'm so anxious to read the testimony...anyone see the trannies yet???

She caught him the first time, prompted the move to Modesto and selling of "The Shack". At least, that was the speculation here a year or more ago. Hope the prosecutor argues that his first affair caused such an upheaval in his life that this time he killed his wife to avoid being caught. Transcripts I know of are on a 48 hour time delay.

The defense:
Caught? Bah/Humbug, Laci knew all about it and-and-and she was ok with it, she didn't complain to anyone..
If that doesn't work there's always the Petersons who'll testify- Yep, Laci knew all about his sexual excapades.

Hi Jax. Apparently Sharon had the rapt attention of the jurors!! I agree the reporting is "pathetic". Very biased. I don't think it represents what is really taking place in the Court. I did listen to Beth Karas this morning and she stated that the jurors rarely look at Peterson.

They probably found it in the baby's liver. Or in the few remaining tissues she had left. In fact, I believe caffiene does not easily pass the placenta so it would likely have been in her tissues. All her major organs were gone EXCEPT the Uterus, the toughest muscle in the female body.

I think it will be a fat chance Snott will take the stand...he may have charmed his way thru life...but this case has been so blown up in the media, he and/or his lawyers have to know that every time he opened his mouth to the media in his interviews, the majority saw him for the liar that he is. There is a treasure trove to impeach his testimony with....

I'm sorry, I have to beg to differ.
As the owner of three golden retrievers, they are not hard to handle. Goldens are people pleasers, who will do what they are asked. Most of them are very well behaved on lead.

Read this update on the boards...
Beth:

RG on stand for about 30 minutes.
Focus on dinner december 15
and jumping to December 24

Jury loves him he is very charming and jury is very taken by him and his answers and demeaner.

He told Sharon december 24th it was probably nothing when he thought sharon was over reacting when she got the call. (paraphrasing)

RG talks about Scotts actions and demeaner the 24th.

>>but remember Varinsky is helping him).<<

I saw Varinsky on T.V. in an interview about this case. He was great...said that he is the B.S.-O'Meter.
Pretty funny.

I read it Jackie. It's good and I believe what one poster also reported. She said a DEFENSE attorney said that Distaso is doing it right - the case is BUILDING in intensity and as I'v said before, Distaso has a DEFINITE plan, he's a deliberate, disciplined Prosecutor. He's gonna clean Geragos's clock and wipe the snot and laughter off of all the Peterson's faces. I'm glad that Ron's testimony went so well. They is a very DEFINITE distinction being made between these two families. One CLOSE, WARM AND LOVING, the other, COLD, INSENSITIVE, GREEDY, AND EVIL!! Being illustrated very well.

Agrees to record phone calls

Rocha said she later agreed to secretly record for police her telephone conversations with her son-in-law. Prosecutor Rick Distaso played for the jury a Feb. 13, 2003, call in which she pointedly questioned Scott Peterson about his last contact with his wife.

Peterson told her they had ordered pizza, watched a movie and went to bed around 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 -- she wearing his blue pajamas.

In the taped phone call, Rocha questioned Peterson about his activities when he returned home that afternoon to find the house dark, the dog in the back yard with leash attached and his wife gone.

Peterson told police he ate cold pizza, washed his clothes and took a shower before calling his in-laws, a detective testified at his preliminary hearing.

"It's just odd that you didn't notice anything when you got into the house," Sharon Rocha said on the recorded call. "But instead you take a shower … I would have thought that you would have called right away."

After the bodies were found in mid-April 2003, Rocha said she called Peterson and left a message saying he needed to call her immediately.

"And did he ever return your call?" Distaso asked.

"No," she replied

Rocha said she later asked what Laci's plans for the day had been. She said Peterson told her Laci had planned to go shopping and come home and make gingerbread before walking the dog. Prosecutors maintain Laci stopped walking the dog weeks earlier at her doctor's request after she suffered spells of dizziness.
~snip~ http://www.ktvu.com/news/3395701/detail.html

Isn't this backwards?
This has Laci shopping, baking, then walking the dog.

If Laci was getting ready to walk the dog when Scott left,
that means she would have already shopped and baked for that day.
