So, what you do is take off from C'ville late Wednesday evening and drive to the nearest Metro station.

You can't park there overnight, but if you go in AFTER midnight, you get to park until the next evening.

Take Metro to Union Station. Walk to the Capitol. Pay your respects. Return to Union Station. Catch Metro to return to the station where you parked.

You probably ought to sleep it off right there at the station for a while. Then, grab a meal and drive back.

The odds are against you finding a room in the WashDC metro area at this time!

I won't click, because even the thought evoked by your post has put me at risk of crying all over again. Thanks.

I don't know that we'll be able to find a room, if not, your plan is the next best alternative.

I just heard from a friend whose new son was born on Friday. The baby's middle name is Ronald. Who would have thought that a few hours later, the choice of name would take on much more significance, and turn into a tribute to a great man?

100,000 is the usual inept estimate these people release on the basis of what is p.c. and in their best interests at the time.

In no way is the estimate to be taken seriously because truth is the last thing they would consider.

Would love to drive up Wednesday from Hampton Virginia, unfortunately I don't have the money to get a hotel for the night. I guess I'll just have to be there in spirit (though I could sleep in my car, heahahaha). Do me proud FReepers. Please do me proud, I was young when Reagan was in office, but even then I knew somwthing drew me to this man, and now, as a 28 year-old, I cannot absorb enough information about the greatest president of my lifetime, second in history only to George Washington. So yes, please do me proud as I would love to be there more than anything.

Over Memorial Day the major networks kept talking about "Tens of thousands" of veterans who came for the WWII Memorial Dedication. There were ticket holders, then there were many more who came to see the memorial and watch the ceremonies elsewhere. That has to be a drastically low-balled figure.

Only 100,000 for Ronald Reagan is unimaginable. Considering only that many may actually get in to pay their respects, how can we get reliable numbers on the number of people who actually tried.

Anybody know how we can get an unspun crowd estimate?
