I've always had the suspicion that Gorbachev was one of many people in the Soviet government that actually took President Reagan's "evil empire" remark personally, and were really troubled by it.

No proof. And he's still a commie.

Gorby's spin. Reagan did not "meet him halfway." Gorby caved on everything, and we won, ya old commie!

Reagan stated that the Soviets were an evil empire, and that he would bring them down.

From that statement, the soviets took that Reagan was going to shut them down...and they believed him.

From that same statement, the Democrats took that Reagan had insulted the Soviets, was a doddering boob, and had made the world an even more dangerous place.

Pretty damn embarrasing when even the commies can recognize truth better than you.
