Rather is simply searching for his "Cronkite" moment. You know, something that the future news anchors can play over and over again when Rather is being remembered, like Cronkite announcing JFK's death.

Ab-so-damn-lutely.

I've had a GUT FULL of these people who trashed Reagan for years trying to jump out in front of the parade today.

Starting with Bill Schneider.

"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" isn't enough?

IIRC, Rather was the anchor at a CBS affiliate in Dallas when Kennedy was assassinated. He broke the news, it was his big break.

If we're going to criticize media folks who take cheap shots at President Reagan, especially now, let's at least give the benefit of the doubt to those who are trying to be respectful. I didn't see this spot by Dan Rather, but I think President Reagan would have taken it at face value. To do less diminishes us, not Rather.

I was waiting for the Belmont to come on NBC this afternoon when Brian Williams broke into regular programming to announce President Reagan's passing. He was very respectful, and gave the President credit for playing a major role in defeating the Soviet Union, winning the Cold War, and bringing down the Berlin Wall.

There's been light in surprising places. Enjoy it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...

Blather's respect for Reagan is as genuine as a three dollar bill. You nailed it, Registered. Just another liberal dirtbag trying to hide his true colors.

Bingo. He's a total fraud.

" Rather is simply searching for his "Cronkite" moment. "

Reagan is History and Rather is just a footnote.

You should have seen Mike Wallace today, who like Rather, realizes that he has heard mortality knocking on the door.

Reagan in death and the exquisite timing of his death around DDay and in France once again trumps them all.

Stuff that gives the shivers.

I caught a glimpse of Cronkite on Larry King last night and turned him off. Maybe they'd been on a while -- long enough to say everything laudatory they could think of. But Cronkite was whining about Grenada and Iran/contra, so I gave him the hook and went on to Fox.
