A Presidency Characterized by Paradox (LA Times barf alert)
LA Slimes ^ | 6-5-04 | Editors of LA Slime

Posted on 06/05/2004 11:37:51 PM PDT by Always Right

Just a few of the tidbits the LA Slime had to say about the most beloved President of our lifetime:

...ignoring unpleasant facts, idealizing hopeful fantasies.

.... notoriously detached and inattentive to the details .....playing his best role ever.

..... federal debt that was nearly triple its level .....the fallacious "supply side" economic notion that government revenues rise if taxes are cut.

While espousing basic small-town American values, he was a divorced man with estranged children.

poor got poorer.....helped create the savings and loan debacle......jobs lost to corporate downsizing and outsourcing......

And even blamed Reagan for Aids. What a bunch of losers.

This is a prime example of just how out of touch the LA Slimes is with the public. This paper represents the views of the 5% of the population that is to the left of Ted Kennedy. Shoot, even Teddy had nice things to say about Reagan today.

This isn't the Los Angeles Times that endorsed Barry Goldwater. This is a whole different outfit and its papers are best used as a cat box lining.

Richard Milhous Nixon:

Those dirty, pinko vermin! Believe me, those long-haired freaks will feel the wrath of ol' "Dick" Nixon, I'll have you know! Don't think that just because me and Checkers are interred in a cemetery in Yorba Linda, that I can't take a trip down the L.A. freeway and kick Carroll's pantywaisted heinie! Chandler isn't going to hear the end of this from me either, you can be darn sure of that. I'm going to head down to purgatory and give him a piece of my mind dammit!

Regardless of what you think of his views, it's extremely por form to slam them on the day of his death.

A total lack of class. Total.

Not that I'm surprised.

I wasn't trying to "slam" President Reagan or his political viewpoint. In fact, I wasn't even trying to "slam" the memory of President Nixon.

I was trying to make light of the pro forma condemnatory editorial coming out of the Los Angeles Times editorial page. If you had been a bit more attentive while you were carefully parsing my post, you would have realized that.

I may be tactless, but at least I'm able to digest small quantities of information without having a conniption fit.

It's your prerogative to hate me. Use it wisely.

Of course, I was referring more to the LA Times article than your post, which honestly I didn't even read past the first couple of lines.

Sorry to hear that.

Honestly, I disregard many of the comments posted to these threads.

However, when I do respond to a comment, it's usually after having thoroughly read it.

I hope these people get blasted withe mails and faxes...someone please post the contact info for the people who wrote this trash. They actually read THREE LA times opinions on this today...all of them negative...all of them presenting blatant lies as fact and presenting the socialist argument against Ron.

and call c-span if you can...defend Reagan from these hateful leftist callers.

The Reagan administration's zeal for deregulation of industry helped create the savings and loan debacle

Former FDIC Chairman William Seidman charged that the 1980 increase in insurance coverage gave the savings and loans "a $100,000 credit card issued by Uncle Sam and made the government a full partner in a nationwide casino...."

Reagan didn't to that.

A little LAT spinning no better IMO than outright lying.

That's like saying Henry Ford is to blame for car bombers by mass producing cars making cars available to all. Yes deregulate but it was Congressional efforts such as the Gain-St Germain Act and the raising of insurance from 40,000 to 100,000 dollars, explicitly backed by taxpayers, that led to the problems. I didn't google hard enough to find it this time but I recall reading that St Germain slipped in the 100,000 dollar figure out of spite over a dispute with Republicans.

https://www.cato.org/pubs/regulation/regv12n3/reg12n3-haraf.html

The LAT idiots blame Reagan for not diverting our multi-trillion-dollar economy to finding a cure for AIDS thus enablng a life-style of hundreds of sex partners annually, I suppose. No word about individual responsibility -- except for cigerette smokers.

Reagan gets blamed for emptying California menatal hospitals when it was the do-gooders' decade-long social and legal efforts to free the patients -- new "miracle" drugs and community life were all that were needed to give them normal lives, the do-gooders said. It was a disaster. Let's say it was Reagan's fault and repeat it over and over and over. . . .

Sounds like the Columbus Dispatch (Knight Ridder). For example stagflation ended under Reagan, but is was due to Paul Volcker, a Carter Appointee.

My wife says they can't write everything nice, but they didn't write anything nice. Oh, wait, last paragraph, Reagan had a strong personal morality.

The whole editorial is damning by faint praise, and takes many obligatory leftist cheap shots.

America is headed to a civil war. There will be armed conflict of the left versus the right. We are just too polarized as a nation to avoid it.

You misspelled that.

The LAT idiots blame Reagan for not diverting our multi-trillion-dollar economy to finding a cure for AIDS thus enablng a life-style of hundreds of sex partners anally.

There. That's better.

Hey, hey, that'snot nice. The left might start to think this is a homophobic hate site who worships Hitler. Oh never-mind, the DelUsional bastards already do.
