Thanks for posting this. I was stationed on board the USS Dwight D Eisenhower from 1983 until 1987. In June of 1984 we were asked to be a part of the D-Day Anniversary remembrances. Since I speak French I was part of the shore party from the ship. I was at Pont du Hoc with President Reagan and Margaret Thatcher and was able to meet both of them.

I told President Reagan that my uncle (my father's brother) was killed during the invasion and was buried at the allied cemetary there. I had a picture taken with both President Reagan and Mrs. Thatcher and gave it to my father upon my return. My father passed away in 1991 and I have since been unable to find the picture.

Thanks for sharing that experience with us, what an honor it must have been for you to meet President Reagan and Maggie Thatcher, as well as an honor for your father to get that picture.

Thanks for your service,

God Bless
