Washington, DCRNC Chairman Ed Gillespie issued the following statement today on the passing of former President Ronald Reagan:
"Ronald Reagan was a President of great historic impact who led the United States with strength and conviction, and the positive impact of his policies is still felt today here and around the world. More than two decades after he was first elected President, the Republican Party still bears his imprint. Because Ronald Reagan lived, people across the globe live in greater freedom and prosperity.
On behalf of the Republican National Committee I extend deepest sympathies to Nancy Reagan and the Reagan family.
Amen

A real man, a true American. We'll miss you Mr. President.
Pat Buchanan is doing a great job paying tribute to Ronald Reagan on MSNBC.
Does anyone know how to start Mt. Rushmore petition?
God bless Ronald Reagan.
Words fail. It has always been sufficient to say Ronald Reagan - for me, it still is.
My thoughts and prayers go to Nancy and his family. His loss has created a huge void for all of us.
Finally, I thank God for allowing us to share Ronald Reagan for the time he was here. He was where we needed him at the precise time in history when we needed him.
Until www.reaganvigil.com goes live late tonight or early tomorrow, here is a link to the website to organize candlelight vigils in hometowns across America and internationally.

We put it together in a hurry, so please forgive its lack of slick appeal, but it should get the job done.
Send it out to everyone you know, every list you've got so that folks can get together and start organizing vigils!
And if you are in Washington DC Sunday night, come by Lafayette Park across the street from the White House at 6 PM.
Let's get this together for the Gipper!

Unfortunately, Tiger500 is correct. The rock formation surrounding Mt. Rushmore is not suitable for carving. If anyone deserves to be added, it is Ronald Reagan.
A petition would be a great testament though. Maybe another Freeper knows how to start one.
