Soon, my husband and I will break out drinks to properly wake President Reagan in honor of his Irish Heritage, but for now, one of my favorite Ronald Reagan movie memories wasn't from a Ronald Reagan movie.

In Dr. Zhivago, when Yuri Zhivago returns after the revolution to find that "wealth has been redistributed"; his home and the city in ruins, with 16 families to a home meant for 1 family, famine, disease, etc. One of the commies says to him, "It is much fairer this way. The revolution cut out the tumors of injustice." Yuri, a physician, replies, "But you tried to cut out the tumors of injustice without preserving life in the vital organs!" I was 20 or so years old when I first saw that movie, and jumped up exclaiming, "REAGAN WAS RIGHT!!!! I KNEW IT!!!"

My date just stared at me with a blank expression. The relationship didn't last.

LOL. I remember when I was 17 and working on a summer job before college I was striking up some sparks with a beautiful co-worker in 1968 when we compared Presidential candidates. Mine was Reagan hers was Bobby Kennedy (who was just killed). Could've lied but didn't.

Sparks fini.
