Rest in Peace, President Reagan.
So did I. You know the chain-of-command photo line in every command? I remember looking at the Boss, every time I passed the President's picture in the passageway and getting the feeling that everything was rightside-up and in good hands. As a Marine I had great confidence in the Command Authority, I knew that Boss Ron wasn't going to send me anywhere unless it really needed to be done, and I'd give it my all.
I'm a sixth-generation Californian, but I live in Virginia now. I went and stood in front of the White House in the rain today, remembering. As I drove back to Alexandria, I missed him terribly.
It is ironic in the extreme. My grandfather couldn't stand Reagan. I love and miss them both now, and for the same reasons.
Gospeed Mr. President. You are terribly missed.
