With all the talk about a need for civility inpolitics, one of the funnier lines from the 1980 campaign, and from the liberals..was..
"Did you hear about Reagan's plan to cure poverty in America?
There's gonna be 50,000 teams in the NBA next season.."

My date just stared at me with a blank expression. The relationship didn't last.LOL. I remember when I was 17 and working on a summer job before college I was striking up some sparks with a beautiful co-worker in 1968 when we compared Presidential candidates. Mine was Reagan hers was Bobby Kennedy (who was just killed). Could've lied but didn't.
Sparks fini.

I predict that not one RAT leader will admit Reagan's destruction of the USSR. They never do. That's why they are RATs.

He was kind of America's Grandpa Yes he was, and proudly my Commander in Chief in the 1980's. I can't think of anyone I would have rather served under back then.

I wrote a long piece (sort of fiction) about this some time ago. I think maybe Howlin knws how to find it. If she does, I hope she will post it.

Thank God for FOX NEWS.
I am livid about C-Span
permitting the vile comments
to air when the moderator
could merely advise the ugly
callers "this is not a day for hatred."

The long goodbye has ended Mr. President Reagan, but to me your election as President in 1980 was a wonderful hello. You gave the country the optimism and vigor to overcome the problems the nation was suffering at the time. It was through your strength that we found strength in ourselves to overcome those obstructions in our way and move forward.
Thank you President Reagan for your resolve, wisdom, and at always at the right moment, your humor.
Prayers for your wonderful and loving wife Nancy and your family.
God Bless Ronald Wilson Reagan and the United States of America.

Beautiful speech. Thank you for posting it. As I read it, I could "hear" President Reagan's voice saying the words.

I will not mourn the death of this great man, but I will celebrate his life. So long Mr.President, may God be with you!

Lord bless him.
I first saw Ronald Reagan speak in 1976. I've loved him ever since.
