NEWS CREW IN IRAQ TIPPED OFF TO LOCATION OF ROADSIDE BOMB DID NOT RELAY INFORMATION TO COALITION CONVOY
MOSUL, Iraq - Coalition soldiers questioned two news media cameramen and a reporter after a roadside bomb exploded near a Coalition convoy two kilometers north of Mosul June 3.
The media, who were at the scene prior to the attack, told soldiers at the scene they had received a tip to be at that location prior to the attack and they had witnessed the explosion.
There was minimal damage to a Coalition vehicle, a cracked windshield, and no serious injuries.
3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division soldiers requested the media accompany them to a base camp in Mosul to answer questions as witnesses to the incident. The news media representatives left the base camp in the mid afternoon.
I remember that episode of "Ethics in America". The question as to whether or not to warn the hypothetical American patrol was initially put to Peter Jennings. At first he said "yes" he would try to warn the Americans "even at the risk of his own life". But old Mike Wallace gave him a dressing-down in front of the panel by reminding Peter that "he was a journalist first, and an American second". Peter changed his mind when confronted Commissar Wallace. I thought the Marine officers on the Panel were going to have a cow.
Did the news media leave in body bags?
Seems to me that if a newsie knows in advance of an ambush or IED and doesn't alert our (the good!) guys, they could be shot as spies.

That segment from that series should be shown to all America about the true values of the American media.

I truly am beginning to think that these politicians and media types and other that harbor ill will against America, need to be called to the carpet. I know there are always options such as boycotting sponsors and other ideas that would hit them in the wallet.. any other Ideas from Fellow FReepers?....
Or do we in these days live in a time where Treason and sedition against you country and fellow countrymen has become and acceptably reality?

It's stunning to watch them actually mull over how they would handle the situation...
I can't believe they were ever allowed to work in the U.S. again after that, it should have gotten huge attention and the U.S. public condemning them loudly :-(
We live among those both in the media and elsewhere who, while enjoying protections and perquisites of citizenship in the United States that have been paid for over and over again in the currency if her soldiers' blood, believe truly that they represent something that transcends the duties and obligations of that citizenship. These are "citizens of the world" - Gods among men. They're as much a necessary part of the political scenery as stinkweed in an alpine meadow.

When the four contractors were killed and diplayed, I seem to recall Agence France Presse (AFP) having a ring side seat. Likely suspects, if you ask me.
The story said that only minor injuries were suffered. How minor?
Question: let's say a news organization admitted to something like this in a more serious incident, one involving death or serious injury. The media might have refuge from criminal prosecution, but what about civil action by the injured soldiers? Could the media be liable in such a case?
First we must kill all the journalists!
