Nancy Reagan and others believe the use of stem cells from embryos could lead to cures for such illnesses as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

I'm sure the past decade has been sheer hell, Nancy, but the Ronald Reagan I know and love was no cannibal.

While I'm certainly no fan of fetal stem cell research, and believe that other stem cell sources (like umbilical) can serve the same end wouthout the moral dilemmas, it's unfortunate that the AP chose to even broach the issue in this article, which is appropriately about the passing of a great man and a great President, and of Mrs. Reagan's own heroic efforts in doing all that any stricken spouse could ask for of their beloved. Let's not allow that debate to intrude on our overall respect for what Mrs. Reagan has done in her long, lingering grief. Folks with her burdens should be allowed some latitude.
