FEINSTEIN INTRODUCES "ASSAULT WEAPONS" REAUTHORIZATION BILL

Yesterday, vehemently anti-gun Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)introduced S. 2498, legislation that would reauthorize the Clinton gun ban. The bill is being held on the Senate floor and could come up at any time.
This is the start of a sustained political battle we`ll be waging over the next few months. Our opponents will continue to work at every turn to try and accomplish their anti-gun goals, and we need to be prepared. As I recall, it was some San Fran pol who was shot by another. I'm fuzzy on the details, but the guy who was shot was apparently the first openly gay man elected to the city council or something.

Any changes, different wording, new weapon lists, lets G.W. off the hook for his 2000 campaign promise to sign a renewal of the 'existing' legislation. (like DeLay would ever let it get through the House)

As I said, totally irrational. Rights are not collective...they are excercised by INDIVIDUALS.
Her position is not based on any logic or reason...it is completely emotional. Laws affecting the rights of individuals should NEVER be made this way.

1. Apathy on our part.
If those of us who value freedom and Liberty are silent, or seen as unconcerned, it has a good chance of passing. The Million Sucker Moms, VPC, and media have a loud, if not numerous, voice, and it can and has drowned out the facts in the past. If those on our side could get even one-quarter of our number to a march on Washington, we'd never face this crap again.
2. A mass-shooting incident between now and then.
Regardless of firearm involved, such a massacre would produce a wave of emotionalism and hysteria that the Republicans would be unable to stand in the face of without MASSIVE backup from ALL of us. This close to an election, such an emotional whomp would be near-overwhelming.
By no means did I mean it was time to back off and let off the pressure. The circumstances you cite could make a difference.
All those who legally carry should be extra vigilant for such an incident as well as terrorists attacks between now and the election.
Just look at the numbers of gun sales and permit applications after 9-11. Events matter.

How typical of a Dim, to introduce such a bill on a Friday before a Summer weekend. She's probably thinking that us "redneck gun-fondlers" are out drinking beer and ignoring it.

IMHO, the mags are the one thing that was the whole point of the Ban in the first place. The graboids were smart enough to know that bayonet lugs and folding stocks didn't make as much difference.
Make sure everyone knows how that "mag ban" has helped to place troops in danger, too. American companies, prohibited from selling new mags, have all but abandoned designing newer, better ones. In fact, the only company to my knowlege that has is H&K, and they're German.
There have been reports for weeks about troops being unable to obtain sufficient magazines for their pistols and rifles because of it.
If their inboxes and mailboxes are FULL by Monday, we have a good chance of stopping this. Feinswine introduced this on a Friday to head off that possibility.
