God, thanks for telling me you were 1st Cav. My Dad (rest his soul) was 1st Cav signal Corps in the South Pacific. They were among the first to hit the beaches on the invasions. I still have the pictures he brought back back from the Philipines campaign. Many, many dead burnt Japs-religious freaks. You should be very proud to have served in that fine and famous outfit, and don't forget it was 1st Cav that led McArthur into Tokyo. If the likes of Julian Bond keep running their communist mouths they will be out of power for a long, long time. Americans don't want to hear their crap.
Your Dad served in one of the greatest units in the Army.
The 1st Cavalry Division was (and is) one of the hallowed units (but, then again, aren't they all).
I was blessed to have served in their ranks and also those of the 4th Infantry Division.
My uncle was killed while serving in the 4th, in Normandy, (and is still buried there) on 16 June 1944 and a Great Uncle served with them in WW1 in France.
