But that doesn't make for nearly as hyperventilating a story from VPC...
Ban the Walker Colt!
Ban the Walker Colt!
It's a monster!
The Violence Propaganda Center would like to make upstanding citizens aware of a vicious threat to law enforcement officers NOW BEING SOLD openly on the streets.
The SUV, or "cop-killer station wagon".
These hulking behemoths can easily defeat level III-A body armor and even tear through the doors of police vehicles.
Clearly no law-abidiing sportsman needs to own one of these vehicles-of-war, a type of vehicle often used by terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are being sold openly by dealers and even private citizens with NO background checks.
If you don't want to see cop-killer SUVs on America's streets, help support common-sense legislation to ban these crushing leviathans, these baby-runners-over forever.
Sincerely, Josh Suckass, VPC
"Easy to carry concealed"? You've got to be f'ing kidding me!
Feel lucky, elk? Well, do ya?
You would never want to be "down range" from one of those babies. They will snuff a grizzly in 3 body shot (not head).
.50 cal handguns, the weapons of choice for criminals.

Semi-auto shotguns, the weapons of choice for criminals.
WOULD THESE DAMN CRIMINALS MAKE UP THEIR MINDS AND SETTLE ON ONE WEAPON OF CHOICE, PLEASE??
At one time the S&W .357 was the weapon of choice... of police officers. Now they've mostly gone over to the dark side..Glocks. (just kidding!)
Stay Safe Dan and thanks for posting these threads. Your a solid source of info on the RKBA & 2nd issues. Thanks !
You're absolutely right! I agree!
We lobby to pass a law mandating that criminals can only choose one type of weapon.
For the children!!
((shhh. Don't tell anyone but I just bought a 6.5" version of this and will buy the 4" version when it comes out. That ought to get 'em going))
The .500 S&W, with the same 325 grain bullet, is about 200 fps faster than the .50 AE. (1600 vs 1400 fps). Either one is gonna smart, even if you've got on ceramic trauma plates.
To my knowledge, no .500 S&W has been used in a crime, it's a revolver designed for handgun hunting, no more or less threatening to a police vest than most T/C center-fires that have been on the market for years.
The VPC is the same outfit that claimed the S&W .500 was the 'weapon of choice' of street gangs on the day it was announced at the SHOT show in February 2003.
It is unfortunately only the latest example of dangerously reckless marketing by America's virtually unregulated gun industry." Diaz further noted that the .500 Magnum handgun, first introduced in February 2003, is already appearing at gun shows, notorious as sources of criminal gun trafficking.
Nice snide little remark about gun shows thrown in gratuitously. Anyone attending a gun show will be startled at the lack of hoodlum, gangsters, and terrorists. They are mostly a haven of middle-aged white guys. BTW, anyone buying a new S&W .500 at a gun show will have to submit to a FBI instant check, same as any other gun, same as any other seller of new guns. Pretty unregulated, huh?
The .500 Magnum follows a Smith & Wesson tradition of designing extremely powerful handguns. Vest Buster points out that 27 out of 144 (nearly one out of every five) law enforcement officers slain with a handgun from 1998 through 2000 were killed with one of three types of handgun and cartridge combinations originally designed and introduced by Smith & Wesson: the .357 Magnum, the .44 Magnum, and the .40 S&W.
They neglect to mention that the .357 was designed at the request of law enforcement to replace the anemic .38 special. That the .40S&W/10MM was designed in cooperation with the FBI. S&W has a fine reputation of supplying law enforcement with the tools they've desired for generations.
I suspect the vehemence directed at S&W is the result of their new American owners reneging on the deal of the former Brit owners with the Clintons.
After reading this hit piece on S&W, most gun owners should be reassured that the gun owners boycott of S&W products is over.
He'd have a hard time concealing a compact 9mm Glock. A fat guy has no room left under his clothes to hide anything. I'm no wear near MM's class (not anymore at least!) but I have a hard time with my "little bitty" EAA Witness Compact (in .45 ACP of course). Part of it is the way I dress most of the time, but I still haven't found a satisfactory concealment holster.
No, it's much less powerful than that. There are a couple of single shot .50 BMG "handguns" out there though. Takes quite an effective muzzle brake to make the things fireable by someone not named Clark Kent.
I guess I'm safe--all I have is a .44 magnum (Anaconda) and a .480 Ruger. You know: the small stuff.
