But, since I'm Protestant, I don't think any man is infallible. As an American, I take offense to a European attacking our country for what he perceives to be our decadence, when altar boys are menu items in local churches.
The Pope has done some good things, not least of which were his efforts during the Cold War.
But he's just a man, like you and me. Europe is a much bigger cultural wasteland than America is. He employs sexual predators here, then covers up for them. And he is critical of our effort to liberate Iraq, while he called Tariq Aziz a "man of peace."
Am I missing something?
And, FYI, papal infallibility has nothing to do with the man, but attaches to the papal office, and it only applies to teachings on faith and morals, spoken ex cathedra, and with the intention to invoke infallibility.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with political discussions.
Do you have any evidence whatsoever for your claim that the Pope "covered up" for predator priests?

Yeah, actually, you missed the whole thing. Don't let it bother you, though. Keep up the anti-Pope rants.
The Pope is only infallible when he is speaking about the faith and morals of the Catholic Church or ex cathedra (sitting in St. Peter's chair).
He is not infallible when he gives his opinion in matters that are not "ex cathedra." He is just giving his opinion.
Yes, you are missing something. As a Protestant of whatever denomination or none, you have no standing to whine about how the pope governs the Roman Catholic Church. The RCC is not your Church. The RCC is not your business. Mind your own business.
Your only alternative routes to relevance on matters Catholic and/or on JP II are to:
1. Become a Roman Catholic; or
2. Accomplish as much in your own life as JP II has in his.
As an American, you think your opinion is automatically relevant without furth effort but it is not. Opinions are like ......... Well, you know the rest.
Learn the doctrine before you criticize it.
