Maybe a bit off topic we are really talking safety now..

A few years ago several idiots up in Abilene, TX were working on a car with a fuel line blockage. They didnt have an air compressor so they decided to try to clear the blockage with oxygen right out of the tip of a torch.
Pressured it up just back from the fuel pump, Last mistake they will ever make.
When the oxygen mated up with the hydrocarbons in the fuel tank everything within half a block was cleared.

I watched someone try to weld up a hole in an oilpan still on the car. It was sitting in the driveway with the hood open. About 3 seconds after they started welding there was a loud pop, and the air cleaner bounced off the underside of the hood, and then off the garage door about 10 feet away. They never did find the dipstick.

LOL, sometimes they don't get a second chance. I made some equip for a couple of PhDs. The flow diag. was essentially gas mixing => humidity chamber => high temp oven with metals to oxidize. The critical gas to watch for safety was hydrogen. They had a simple operating check list to follow. The key was making sure the "door" was shut. Very simple. If the door isn't shut the gas mix explodes when it hits the 1000+C temp spot in the furnace.

They used it for awhile and one day while I was on vacation it exploded and the cylindrical SS humidity tank gained another 1/3vol. and went twords shperical. Being PhDs they scratched their heads, thought about it and said let's try that again w/o checking the "door". LOL, they survived and decided it was time to quit 'till I got back.
