I was one of the fortunate people who listened to this announcement on my shortwave live as it happened. Within the next hour the brave announcer was replaced by someone who towed the Party line.
Hard to believe that on the fifteenth anniversary of this tragic event, there is very little media coverage.

I'll never forget the paper mache replica of the Statue of Liberty being destroyed by tanks. As I recall, China received MFN trade status as a reward for their militant fascism. So, what's the worth of a couple thousand dreamers when compared to Wal-Mart specials. Still, good times!

The 'media' will cover the 3rd of June more as the anniversary of the Billy Joe McAllister jumping off the Tallahatchee Bridge than a fight for democracy.
