If we do not defend our freedom, they will be glad to take it. This reminds me of the SALT talks, where we made a deal to destroy our missiles if they destroy theirs. They did. Then we made a deal to destroy our nuclear warheads and they didn't. Now those warheads are remounted on the new missiles developed with the money we sent them to destroy their old missiles and warheads.
There is a lot of difference between a church bell ringing and Prayers at 500 watts. It is shocking to me that the very people who cheer the "separation of church and state" banning of all things Christian in the public place would get on the bandwagon for Imams screaming from the rooftops under the same laws.

Freedom based on who gets the right and who doesn't is tyranny. Freedom based on everybody does not get to do anything is not freedom either. This is not an issue if the Imam would stay under the noise pollution limits, just like anybody can play a stereo. The problem is that the "call to prayer" that is a religious statement of dominance over the area is way over the noise pollution decibel limits.
The problem here is they want "special" laws just for them, they get a 100+ db limit, where everybody else must be under the law. Another problem is that The first call to prayer is done at 4:30 AM!!!!! I do not like Hari-Krishnas in my face at the airport, I sure will not like an Imam in my bed at 4:30 AM. The call to prayer must be loud enough to wake the dead at sleep Islamics that forgot to put on their alarm clocks. That is the crux of the matter. This is not about freedom, it is about religion in your face.
I recently went back to my hometown in New Jersey after 25 years. Then, it was a leafy Episcopalian commuter town. Now it's like a slum in some combination of the Dominican Republic and Egypt.
