Statement by Rep. John Kline (R-MN) Regarding the President’s Service to Veterans
George W. Bush ^ | June 3, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC— Rep. John Kline (R-MN) issued the following statement regarding the President’s service to veterans:

"Veterans know better than to trust a politician who votes to send our troops to war and then votes against funds to equip them with essential supplies like body armor. John Kerry's political attacks are misleading Americans about the President's strong and steady record of delivering on behalf of those who have laid their lives on the line to keep our nation safe.

"While Kerry talks, President Bush takes action. VA funding has increased by over 40 percent since President Bush took office, enabling over one million more veterans to receive health benefits. The President has consistently worked to give America’s veterans the honor that they deserve, and he will continue to do so in the future."

Biography of Rep. John Kline:
Rep. Kline is a member of the Armed Services Committee and served as a military aide to Presidents Carter and Reagan for two of his twenty-five years in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Kline's responsibilities during this period included carrying the nuclear "football" - the package containing launch codes for a nuclear attack - and advising the country's senior leadership, including the President. During the military career from which he retired at the rank of Colonel, Mr. Kline served in many assignments, including: helicopter pilot in Vietnam, Commander of all Marine aviation forces in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, and Program Development Officer at Headquarters Marine Corps.

Kerry and the DemoncRATs are playing upon an interesting dynamic to blast Bush - while veterans benefits and the money allocated for such have gone up tremendously under the Bush administration, year after year, there are also significantly fewer veterans each year given nearly 1000 WWII vets are dying each day. Thus our annual outlays are less each year while the individual benefits are increasing.

I know it's hard to believe this, but we actually do have some elected conservative Republicans up here in Minnesota!

I got the pleasure to meet Rep. Kline at my CD Caucus a few weeks back. Guy is a strait shooter and I'd trust him to lead me or my son into combat.

Definatly hope we can Re-Elect him
