But what did the Motown Supremes rule?

They haven't ruled yet. They just keep us hangin'on.

Democrat Governor Bob Holden wanted it on the AUGUST primary ballot for just that reason. He believes fewer conservatives will vote in the primary, giving the amendment greater chance of failing.

I hope and pray that Missourians everywhere recognize, and have tired of, the political tricks going on around this and every issue. I hope this backfires on the Governor.

One way to help it backfire on the Governor is to vote twice during the August primary: the first time in favor of this amendment, and the second time FOR Governor Holden against his primary opponent. Why? IMHO, because the Republican candidate in November, Matt Blunt, will have an easier time defeating "One-Term-Bob" than he would against Holden's Democratic primary challenger.

I'm so disgusted with voting in Missouri. I plan on voting against this....or for depending on if they word it badly, but I wonder if dogs, empty parking lots, and dead men will "out vote" the legitimate votes? Oh, and of course the voters in the city of St. Louis will just HAVE to have their polling places open for at least an hour after the legal time because of another democRATic excuse. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Homosexual Agenda Ping - I guess it's good news; I'm not clear on whether the Missouri Supremes were deciding on only the date of the ballot, or whether the ballot should be allowed to be presented to the voters at all. I'm sure a Missourian can spell it out for us.

I sure hope the voters in MO do their duty!

Of course, fat lot of good it has done so far in CA!!! :-(

But look what happened in Hawaii - the courts tried to shove it down peoples' throats and the reaction by the people was HUGE!

And the man pretty much responsible for getting it out to the people is now running for US Congress.

Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

If it's on the November ballot, there could be national implications. A November vote on gay marriage would make Missouri much harder for Kerry to win, thus removing Richard Gephardt from contention as Kerry's running mate. And it would help Republicans win more state offices.

I hope the voting's open when I'm still in-state to be able to vote for it.

Some folks have all the luck. I live across the border west and the jerks in our statehouse decided for me that I don't need to vote

Don't feel bad. I live in CA. We voted this in with over 60% a few years back.

You saw what that did to deter the newly elected mayor of San Francisco. He performed some of the sham "marriages" in his city hall office.

Now it's in the courts, expect that eventually the judges(tyrants in black robes) will work their evil will on ALL of us.

Why is MO moving on this issue so late anyway?

Thanks for the ping, I hadn't seen it. Prov3456 posted the following earlier:
He believes fewer conservatives will vote in the primary, giving the amendment greater chance of failing.

I would add it works in two ways; it would definitely bring out the conservative vote in November so he needed to knock it off the ballot then. OTB is already in deep trouble in Missouri and doesn't want to turn out the conservatives. (OTB is One Term Bob and the term is used frequently in Missouri)

In the U.S. Congress is Bill# S.J.RES.30-The Federal Marriage Amendment with mostly Republican cosponsors signing on. Check on your Congressman at http://www.afa.net to see if your statesmen have signed; if not, ask them to do so. I sent both mine letters, one a chastisement (hee-hee)and the other 'congratulations'.
A national amendment confirming traditional form of marriage is necessary and WE should be the ones to decide if our most sacred of traditions is trashed.
