Geragos deconstructs prosecution's case against Peterson
Defense attorney: Fetus was born full-term therefore defendant's not responsible for murders
By Jason Dearen, STAFF WRITER
REDWOOD CITY -- Scott Peterson is a cad not a killer, his defense attorney said Wednesday as he began an assault on the very essence of the evidence against Peterson -- when his wife and child died.
In the scenario cast by attorney Mark Geragos, the child was born alive weeks after Christmas Eve 2002, the date prosecutors say his mother, Laci Peterson, had been killed.
"If this baby was born alive, clearly Scott Peterson had nothing to do with this murder," Geragos explained to the six men and six women of the jury. .......

Peterson's lawyer attacks investigators' work
By Brian Anderson
CONTRA COSTA TIMES
REDWOOD CITY - Saying Scott Peterson was "stone-cold innocent," defense attorney Mark Geragos blasted the police detectives Wednesday who investigated the murder of Laci Peterson and the thin case he said they cobbled together against her husband.
In his first chance to lay out his side of the case, Geragos said Modesto police believed early on that Peterson had something to do with his wife's Dec. 24, 2002, disappearance and they worked to prove only that. Through slipshod detective work, lies and far-fetched theories, they built a laughable case from circumstantial evidence that led to the prosecution of an innocent man, he said.
"The evidence is going to show beyond any doubt that not only is Scott Peterson not guilty.""......

REDWOOD CITY -- The same gravity that is holding together the "12 galaxies" apparently had enough pull to draw San Francisco's eccentric sign-toting icon, Frank Chiu, and others looking for a little collateral publicity, to the Redwood City Courthouse on Tuesday for the start of the Scott Peterson murder trial.
Parked near the courthouse in a van covered with biblical and anti-abortion messages, Ronald Brock of San Diego sought attention for his message that killing an unborn child, through abortion or any other means, is a crime.
"Murder is murder, give Conner justice," read a banner on the van. Conner was the name Scott and Laci Peterson planned to give their unborn child before a pregnant Laci disappeared in late 2002. Her husband is facing two counts of murder for their deaths.".....

1:23 p.m., PDT: REDWOOD CITY - Scott Peterson had nothing to do with his pregnant wifes murder - and his legal team will prove it, defense attorney Mark Geragos declared dramatically this morning during his opening statement.
The evidence is going to show clearly, beyond any doubt, that not only was Scott not guilty, but stone-cold innocent, Geragos told jurors.
Peterson, 31, of Modesto, came under media and police scrutiny after Laci Peterson vanished Dec. 24, 2002. But Peterson had no opportunity to kill her and their unborn son, Conner, Geragos said.
Evidence will show the baby was born alive, the Los Angeles lawyer announced in a series of revelations. They include:
Laci Peterson knew that her husband bought a fishing boat shortly before she vanished - and was in the boat Dec. 20.
The Petersons didnt talk about the boat, even during......

EXACTLY!!
He thinks we're stupid.....or he hopes the jury is.
And the "homeless peole" he is claiming could be the killers?
What would their reason be for taking a pregnant woman and driving her around for 3 months?
If they were unable to find a job and provide a home to live in for themselves, how is it that they were able to perform a cesarean section on Laci Peterson?
Are they homeless gynecologists?
I thought that Amber had taken a lie detector test and passed? Scott, on the other hand hasn't. Geragos is a desperate man.
ROFLMBO!! That is just so stupid. I guess Amber and homeless bums got their heads together and planned this one huh? Sheesh. He's painted himself right into the corner now imo.
BWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I had no idea gynecologists were at risk in California! uh-oh, Nancy Grace about to give us an update. Thanks for the laugh!
Keep us posted us poor souls that are at work. Blech!! I work in a Law Office. Double blech!!
The 4:30 update hasn't started yet.
Starts off with Lee and Jackie (and her puffer) making statements about the truth coming out.
Oh I thought they said 1:30!!
John Burris and Beth Caris at the courthouse.
Five witnesses so far, in a lunchbreak now.
All discusing Laci on the 23rd, her demeanor, what she was wearing; grocery story, day spa, and salon.
Beth thinks the next witness will be Amy.
Clothing: two different outfits.
Day spa: dark pants, dark capri, a white top
Hair salon: tan or light colored pants and a darker top (contrasting color)
Spa treatment: facial waxing.
She was tired, not sleeping well.
Nancy saying she was found in tan drawstring pants, so she must have gone home after the day spa.
Beth Caras: The theme today is Lacy on Dec. 23. what she was wearing, where she went, etc. Next up, Amy Rocha. She wore at least 2 different outfits on 23rd. 4 witnesses described her clothing: 2 at the day spa:"black capris and white top". Hair salon: "tan or light colored top and darker top". Goes to hair salon late afternoon. Lacy found wearing tan drawstring pants. Matches what she had on at Salon-Salon.
THAT'S what we want. Same clothes she wore at Salon Salon. Her and Scott left there after 7:30 at night to go home. I'll just bet she was getting undressed for bed and he came up behind her. He's too much of a coward to face her. She had NO chance. Her last moments must have been awful.!!
So, the theory that she was found in the same outfit as the Salon Salon siting was completely false. Hmm ...
Beth said that the owner of the spa, the one who gave Laci a facial that day, helped make flyers for Scott and she got wierded out by something he said -- she didn't say what it was -- but she stopped going to the command center and helping by Chrismas day.
No, evidently the pants she had on matched the ones she wore to the Salon, but not the ones Scott said she had on (black).
Amy is up next, so maybe we'll hear them.
Damn, I hate not seeing this myself. I don't trust the press!
Oops, gotcha. Tan pants from Salon Salon are the same as the drawstring pants, right? Didn't Geragos say this was not the case just yesterday? Or am I dreaming?
Or is doesn't apply to THEM, doncha know?
Beth from Court TV said that the family is behaving like pigs in the courtroom: inappropriate laughing.
Why wouldn't she say what it was? Was she a witness this morning? (Sorry for all the questions). I'm speeding home in 8 minutes to watch this for myself.)
That's what Beth Caras says. Tan or light colored pants and dark shirt is the outfit she wore to Salon Salon. I, too, am assuming the drawstring pants are the same that the Salon worker described.
