Do you call yourself a Christian?

Better yet, a Catholic. I understand what Jesus said and practice it in my private life. I think our disagreement may be over the degree of govenrment involvement. Charity is not charity unless it is voluntary.

I am also highly sensitive to non-Christians using the bible to attack the motivations of Christians.

Couldn't help noticing and am just curious...

You think it's more important to call yourself "Catholic" than "Christian"?

Are you reading what I've written? I'm not advocating that the government do this stuff. I'm advocating that you and I do it for the old people around us. Apparently, we're not doing that very well.

As for the Bible, I assume that Christians follow it. I know the Bible very well myself, and often quote from it, since it is widely recognized as the foundation for our society. One needn't be a Christian to understand the wisdom of Jesus' teachings regarding society.

And why might that be? It's your field.

You should be confident.
