The mayor of Crawford needs to open his eyes.



Nothing unusual about a mayor in Texas supporting Kerry and they don't have to be black, imo. I suspect you'll find the same in cities like Dallas, Houston, South Texas border region, etc. However this mayor's bragging may get him some opposition from the other side come his next election.

You're right about Texas mayors. A lot of them are very liberal, especially in the larger cities. I think the Waco area is mistakenly perceived to be ultra conservative. The demographics in this area show our county doesn't have a large, upwardly mobile middle class. We have mostly the "haves and have nots". The fact of the matter is that much of the Baylor University administration and staff hold very liberal views, our newspaper generally comes down on the left side of all issues, and in local and state elections here the left prevails quite often. Chet Edwards is a case in point.
