That's averaging one per minute, every minute, twenty-four hours a day, for two weeks. Not just, slitting throats, but cardiac surgery on each one or hide removal. I have a hard time believing that. Even the worse monster gets bored with endlessly repetitive tasks, no matter how exciting and politically expedient.

I think it was 20 thousand in a year. They had a huge year for human sacrifice when their temple to the sun was consecrated. IIRC 50 years before Cortez came to their shores.
