What a great idea. I'm glad they brought it up.

Thanks Nathan. I am a friend of Benyamin Begin, and I believe he could be the next PM--Sharon may not survive the next confidence vote...

I have seen Benny Begin speak in the United States. He is a very impressive fellow. He seems to have his father's intellectual fervor. I wish him all success.

In terms of transfer, there is a very reasonable approach that could be used if both sides want peace. Nobody who is willing to live peacefully should be forced to leave their homes. If there is a Palestinian State, Jews who live within its borders would have the option of voting within Israel or within that state. The same would be true of Arabs within Israel. Either state could require certain shows of support in order to allow the person citizenship or voting rights. Acceptance of that state and its right to exist would be obvious. That way an Arab who sits around wishing the Jews would go away but lives within the laws would be free to stay in Israel. Those who refuse the full obligations of Israeli citizenship (such as military service) would be foreign residents with no voting or citizenship rights. The same would apply to Jews in Gaza and Judea and Samaria.

Logical, it sounds a bit like the Elon plan.

Of course to my knowledge there exists no Arab organization of any consequence (actually none I can think of) who would consider letting Jews live in an newly created Arab state.

By your logic, Jews could continue to live in Gaza, perhaps providing jobs for their peaceful Arab neighbors. What a crazy idea.

That is different – we don’t call that transfer, that is dismantling of settlements

PM: Gaza to be Jew-Free by 2005

FRmail me to be added or removed from this Judaic/pro-Israel ping list.

WARNING: This is a high volume ping list

His father was a traitorous pig. May he rot in hell for what he did at Camp David.

“So you would agree that the forced transfer of Jewish citizens from Judea, Samaria and Gaza is reprehensible as well,” HaLevi asked.

“That is different – we don’t call that transfer, that is dismantling of settlements – we are speaking about the forced removal of people who were born hereJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS,” said Kopty, audibly flustered.

Edited for clarity.

I agree that the Camp David agreement is overrated in terms of what it did for Israel vs what Israel gave up. However, there was no way any Prime Minister could have not gone along with it.

That is why all the talk of peace is a sham. The ideas of peace that float around all require Jews to admit they have a lesser status in the area than Arabs, they are based on the expectation that having land and dominance is the key to Arab expectations. The Arabs are not looking for peace they are looking for land and dominance and if they cannot have it they won't even pretend to want peace.

You're right. Until there's someone to negotiate with who recognizes that, if you create a palestinian state, palestinian refugees need to live in it, there's nothing much to negotiate. GWB came close, but changed his mind.

What would it take for Kach to be unbanned?

After all, Kach isn't only supported by the Orthodox - there are many Conservative and Secular Jews who also support Kach.

Did you just call the last commander of LeHI a traitor?

Damn straight. It is all too common for former Israeli commanders and generals to turn into sickeningly weak Prime Ministers, ready to cave in to Israel's eternal enemies for the sake of a one-sided phony "peace". At Camp David what Begin did was a disgrace, only to be outdone by the vile Rabin, who should rot in hell. Barak himself was prepared to give up the store yet again, despite the victims of Oslo, but was saved by Arafat's stupidity. Hopes abound for Sharon, but despite a good start, the recent evidence is not encouraging, as he is willing to blithely cleanse 8,500 Jews from Gaza, without even a suggestion of expelling an equal amount of Israeli Arabs.
