Is this special election just to finish Janklow's term or will it last until 2006?
Just to fill the rest of the term. New race in November.
Wish I knew what kind of pattern we'd be expecting in terms of reporting. It's 52-48 Herseth so far with almost half the precincts in. At least a good showing for Diedrich.
The Georgetown grad should feel right at home in DC.
40% of the precincts in and Princess Stephanie has slipped to 52%. Any chance the ranchers in the west will turn out in big enough numbers to overcome the deficit?
This election is to see who serves until next Jan. The regular election will take place this Nov.
Have they counted the dead and the Indians yet? How about the dead Indians?
More importantly, are there any primaries in the Native American counties?
Haven't counted the two slow reservation counties, but also aren't finished with the large west river county, Pennington.
51-49 now with Pennington votes coming in.
What's the significance of Pennington? The reservations I am sure go for Herseth, right?

(D) HERSETH STEPHANIE 88325 51 567 798
Numbers are votes, percentage, precincts reporting, total precincts
And in the kook race, Dennis "Peace Department" Kucinich can't even beat Lyndon "Queen Elizabeth is zapping me with mind-control rays" LaRouche:
(D) KUCINICH DENNIS 1293 2 564 798
(D) LAROUCHE LYNDON 1926 3 564 798
I thought Diedrich was from the western part of the state, but see now he is from a town near Brookings on the East. Was pinning hopes on hometown boy factor. Minnehaha is going Herseth.
tagline
The Dems are going to make out tomorrow like this is the first wave of the November election and this race means Kerry will be prez.
Am I correct to assume that the results should be different when Bush is on the ticket in November. Only dims on the presidential ticket this go round.
Yes, let's hope. The special election was open to all voters.
