He did better than most police officers in a similar situation. It's a lot easier to hit a target when someone isn't trying to kill you.

I wonder how many pizza delivery persons will be assaulted now that Pizza Hut has gone public nationally with its "No Carry" firearms policy?

Even though I haven't eaten one of their lousy pizzas for years it was fun to send them an e-mail telling them that I wouldn't be back, and I was going to tell all my family and friends. And I did ask that they contact me.

Well, in Pizza Hut's defense, they are probably going to be facing a huge legal case from this loser's family for vicarious liability in the shooting death. Even though the delivery guy won't face criminal charges, the company may face a legal suit. Is that right? NO, but even if the suit goes nowhere it will still cost them a pretty penny in legal fees. I can see where they are coming from.
On the other hand, they should not have a delivery area that includes known dangerous areas.

re: Papa Johns--it's not the pizza, it's the garlic butter sauce that comes with it. HMM YUMMY!!! And their chicken fingers are excellent.

Pizza Hut can stick it up their pizza butt.

In defense of Mr. Honeycutt (although he seems to be doing fine in that regard himself!) it's only fair to note that firing under stress, with someone possibly shooting back, is a lot different than shooting paper targets at the range, and 10 hits out of 15 shots is pretty commendable. OTOH, if he had say a .45, it wouldn't have been necessary for the reporter to add that the perp died. LOL! Maybe he missed with the first 10 shots. In that case he would have bean DOA with a 45.

Does anybody know? Is it Papa John's or Godfathers Pizza that is owned by a black Republican in Georgia. If I remember correctly he was running for office recently.

On the other hand, they should not have a delivery area that includes known dangerous areas. That has gotten other companies sued......It's racist don't you know.
I don't recall the outcome, but the NAACP went after Domino's Pizza for refusing to deliver in a particular area of Dover, Delaware because it was and still is a dangerous area to go into........even in broad daylight.

Wait a minute...we made a damn good pizza. Of course, it was 1972...two pizza sizes, one salad choice, one sammich choice. Beautiful waitresses in hot-pants and halter tops...
To: rwfromkansas
If you're gonna to eat pizza from one of the chains.....Papa John's is the best of the lot. Pizza Hut has gotten marginally better over the years, but is still substandard to me, and Domino's is no different than eating greasy cardboard.
What can I tell you? I grew up in NYC, I'm picky about my pizza.

In 1972 I had never heard of Pizza Hut.......we were still getting our pizza from the guy that had a store with a brick oven 3 blocks away.
The first time I was ever in a Pizza Hut was about 1978 and was looked at very strangely when I just suggested to my friends we order a large half and half pie. One of the other girls I was with knew what I was talking about, but no one else, including the waitress, had a clue. The other gal and I were native New Yorkers, we happenned to be in southwest florida at the time!
I have eaten at a Pizza Hut exactly 3 times since then.

better than the 2 out of 15 for the average cop, especially under duress and in the presence of pizza.

It's probably the worst franchise pizza in the known universe! Then I learned what they put in their pizzas and that confirmed why I hate PH.
To: CourtneyLeigh
Here's what I wrote to them:
"Ronald B. Honeycutt, 38, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, says he's been delivering pizzas for 20 years...."
Pizza Hut was NUTS to fire Mr. Honeycutt. No company policy should require someone to choose between protecting his life and giving his life for the company profits. Mr. Honeycutt was legally entitled to carry this means of self-protection. He was declared justified in his use of it. If anything, Pizza Hut should give him special recognition that as an employee of Pizza Hut he has helped to make the delivery neighborhood just a bit safer for everyone.

As much as I like your letter to PH - I seriously doubt you will be getting anything other than a canned response - if that much.

We did plenty of 1/2 & 1/2's. But we didn't fold them over like I learned to in N.Y. Damn good pizza there - but I truly miss Carnagie Deli's pastrami. And all the delis, for that matter.
To: vetvetdoug
He only hit the fellow ten out of fifteen times with a 9mm at close range He was afraid Pizza Hut would charge him with the pizza, so he hung on to it while firing.
