Having a presence in the heart of Asia has been a good thing for stability in the region.

Are we now going to leave Asia to China expansionism? They want the Spratleys Islands, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan all under mainland government.

Do you think China will stay out of our business in the middle east, if we give them Asia?

The PRC already has Hong Kong and Macao. The ROK has two times the population of the DPRK, a GDP per capita of more than 17 times, and a better equipped military of 600,000 personnel to defend the country. The US can provide the nuclear umbrella, but it should not be necessary to have tripwire troops to become involved should the DPRK attack. It is time to reposition our forces after more than 50 years defending the now 12th largest economy in the world.
