Please add me as well.

I think this is by far the best reality show out there, for several reasons.

1) I don't really care about the romantic relationships of a bunch of people I don't know. My wife and I watched the first bachelor, and I didn't like it much, but my wife had gone to school with that smarmy guy, and so that's why she was interested.

2) In TAR, the best really do win. None of this voting off the best. I hate that. OK, there's some degree of luck, but there is luck in most things in life. I just hate on Survivor the way they gang up on the best suited people.

3) Great locales, great scenery. I can go to any internet site and look at the sites in any given country. I like in TAR when they're just running down some average street. I though it was really interesting to see how clean some countries were -- Australia for instance. And I thought it was interesting that at the Windhoek airport in Namibia, almost all the airport workers were white. Like the woman at the store that sold postcards and such.

I also think it's interesting to see the strategy people use: asking locals, jumping on the first flight, or trying to figure out what flight is the best one to take. Borrowing a cell phone, or telling the taxi to pick them up in 12 hours at the same place.

I really home that they have just 12 normal couples. None of this "gay couples" or other trendy stuff. Just 12 sets from around the country: some siblings, some marrieds, some girlfriend-boyfriend, some friends, but no one who's that out of the ordinary. There's one couple from last year's Big Brother (which I don't watch), and hopefully, that's it.

Keep me on the list please.

I saw the title of the thread, and thought I had missed the start of the race.

Hi, thanks for the ping. My sister and I were going to try out for TAR this year, we both love the show and love to travel, but she became seriously ill this year. BUT that won't stop us from enjoying the manipulation, flirting, whining, screwups, gorgeous locations and other fun this season. RACE ON!!!!

Thanks for the Ping!

Early Predictions:

Winners: Dennis/Erika
Second Place: Alison/Donny
Third Place: Marshall/Lance
First Eliminated: Linda/Karen (bye-bye Moms!)

My wife picked Charla/Mirna to win, and got excited when she read the bit about their foreign language advantage. Then she found out about the vertical disadvantage.

Thanks for the ping! I can't wait for TAR to start. We love this show, they go to some of the neatest looking places.

Early Predictions:

Top three: Allison / Donny, Dennis / Erika, Brandon / Nicole

Bottom four: Chip / Kim, Kami / Karla, Jim / Marsha, Bob / Joyce

The basic odds of this game are 1 out 11 you will win; however, there are characteristics that teams possess that reduce their odds of winning. Based on the analysis I have made from the first four seasons, the teams in my "top three" have the fewest number of these characteristics - thus bringing them closest to "even odds". Everyone else is playing at a disadvantage and some are greater than others.

The model fit everyone's finishing order with the exception of the Team Frilly win from last year. Previous seasons were dead on the money.

Race On,

OK, I'll make my predictions, in order of first eliminated:

Bob/Joyce - Sorry, nothing against older folks, but they just don't compete very well against the young and swift.
Marshall/Lance - A bit out of shape.
Charla/Mirna - Sure they're smart, multilingual, and well traveled, but in competition, being a dwarf is a big disadvantage.
Brandon/Nicole - This is the wild card. Someone competent team always makes a bubbleheaded mistake that costs them the game. I predict this year's bubbleheads are Brandon and Nicole.
Chip/Kim - Probably good competitors, but don't have what it takes to make it past halfway.
Colin/Christie - That little thing about Christie always running late doesn't bode well.

That's all I'm predicting for eliminations. All the other teams stand a good chance of winning. But other predictions are:

Most annoyingly sanctimonious: Brandon and Nicole
Most annoyingly loveypoo: Alison and Donny
Most annoyingly egotistical: Dennis and Erika
Most annoyingly condescending: Mirna
Most likeable: Kami and Karli
Most gregarious: Marshall and Lance
Popular favorite: Linda and Karen

I'd also like to be on the list. I love the show. The only thing about it that annoys me is how it ends. It seems they attempt to equalize it so that the winner is who can run the fastest at the very end or who has the best cab driver.

Yup. Bring on the midget. But I still say that in fairness, since they've had several gay male teams, it's about time the race served up a couple of lesbos.

One of the Tian / Jaree team, I don't remember which, was a lesbian. When you add Team Frilly, TAR#4 had the most gay team members of any TAR to date.

The TAR#5 producers may have done a better job of "hiding" (closeting?) the gay team this time around becuase you know there is one on the show; however it's not screamingly obvious pre-show which one it is. This is a 180 degree change from previous seasons where that team was ID'ed from the get-go.
