Ideology is the unspoken undercurrent of all campaigns. How can there be an election without shredding the opposing ideology?
To tire of an ideology is to give up on politics.
Boring repetition of fictional history such as that the JFK side is doling out is tiresome.
Did you know about Kerry's Vietnam service? That's boring, fictional, repetitive, irresponsible and currently irrelevant unless the term "treasonous" is included.
Well, he was a war hero, you know. He just wasn't real clear for which side.
But seriously, I didn't say I get tired of ideology. I love ideology. At least, I love the ideology called "conservatism." I think in terms of ideology, as do most Freepers.
I'm just saying that, by basing the campaign on ideology, Bush and Rove open themselves to an attack from the other side that says, "see, they're trying to stuff their ideology down everyone's throats again." Whether that threat bites with a significant number of voters is, I'll admit, not obvious at all.
The fact is that, when push comes to shove, most Americans do believe in an ideology, which they call "freedom" or "do your own thing."
The problem is that we are nowhere near "shove" yet, and the events of 9-11 grow more distant with every new reality show to hit cable. If President Bush and Carl Rove can reverse that dynamic, they will certainly win and win big.

Your post #13 is the kind of thing that went through my mind when I read the header. In the end, it's all about ideology.
