REDWOOD CITY -- Players in People vs. Peterson have hammered out ground rules on dozens of issues leading to today's opening statements, but have not touched a potentially explosive question: What to do with the families?
Scott and Laci Peterson's relatives regularly attended most proceedings up until jury selection. But many could be called as witnesses and, as such, normally would be excluded from the double-murder trial........

Two death penalty trials cross paths
Two death penalty trials cross paths
By Michelle Durand, Daily Journal Staff
This morning, at precisely the same time, one capital murder trial ends while another begins at the Redwood City courthouse.
Scott Peterson, accused of killing his wife Laci, and confessed murderer Seti Scanlan have little in common aside from being two death penalty defendants in the same county, in courtrooms down the hall from each other. But, depending on the juries ultimate decisions, both could also end up together on San Quentins death row.
Opening statements begin at 9 a.m. in Petersons trial, thought to be the states most publicized case since the O.J. Simpson murder trial..........

May 30, 2004 -- HIS name was Conner. As Scott Peterson heads to his murder trial, a parallel battle is being waged in the California courtroom by the case's littlest victim.
Peterson's son, known as Conner - a boy killed even before he was born - is fighting for the right to be called a person.
Or is he a fetus?
Even before the trial kicks off, the confounding case against Peterson, charged with murdering his eight-months-pregnant wife, Laci, and the soon-to-be-born baby she carried, has managed to turn virtually everyone in America into a card-carrying hypocrite. ........

There's no confession, no eyewitness and, so far, no weapon.
But prosecutors contend they have enough circumstantial evidence to send Scott Peterson to San Quentin's death chamber for allegedly murdering his wife, Laci, and the couple's unborn child. Opening statements in the trial are to begin today.

Lawyers polish their game plans
Lawyers polish their game plans

AFTER police arrested Scott Peterson in San Diego County in April 2003, an angry mob greeted him back in Modesto, carrying signs accusing the fertilizer salesman of killing his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn child. During the 31/2 months between Laci's disappearance on Christmas Eve 2002 and the grisly discovery of the bodies on the shores of San Francisco Bay, a Fresno massage therapist and single mother named Amber Frey held a press conference.......

I hit the mute whenever she or Wendy Murphy appear and am sure there are many jurors who wish they could do likewise with these two high strung attorneys who are in need of mega doses of prozac.
Also- the boat was too small, and the equipment was wrong to catch the type of fish he was supposedly trying to catch.
Months, maybe a year, ago, I remember reading that there were only a handful of launch tickets sold from the Berkeley Marina during the time period Scott said he was there.
I hadn't realized there were only THREE--I was thinking more like five, for Dec. 24. But this info says only three, for a 4-day period including the 24th.
It means that if Scott did buy a ticket at that parking lot, he sure wouldn't have gotten lost in the crowd. So those witnesses--I think they were city workers eating lunch outdoors--would be far less likely to have been mistaken in the time they say they saw Scott.
If the time they testify to doesn't jibe with what Scott has claimed, it will mess up the defense timeline, and Scott will look like a liar. (!)
If, OTOH, all of those 3 sold launch tickets can be accounted for through their purchasers (and none of the purchasers was Scott), then it will look like Scott simply got hold of a ticket and passed it off as his, when it wasn't his. Once again, Scott comes off as lying.
If he lied about one of the above, then we can all say, as Brent Rocha said, "We are only left to wonder what else he may be hiding (lying about)."
I vaguely remember that in recent months someone quoted Sharon as having said that Laci stopped walking the dog back in November, b/c she was having trouble breathing or something.
Now we see that there is information from the doctor(s) that backs this up.
Gosh, I don't have any idea.
RIGHT NOW!
Dan Abrams, Abrams Report (MSNBC) says, "Coming up, new details of what was in the arrest warrant for Scott Peterson, including a possible motive."
They're having a commercial right now, but that's supposed to be coming up.
Yes, according to the LE who arrested him...
This is going to be great...with the gag we had nothing...now ALL of the details will come out on a daily basis!
50 posts???? I was sure you all would have a million by now.......what's the news????
Well One thing that happened is that the Judge said IF the Rocha's can't be in the Courtroom then neither can the Petersons. Geragos withdrew his motion!! He cannot face those people and Geragos does NOT want the Jury to have to look at the Rocha's!! Too bad, so sad, you pair of idjits!! (Geragos & Peterson)!!
At the end of opening statment, Distaso showed a picture of Connor taken at autopsy. There was a gasp in the court room, Rochas were crying and Scott Peterson turned his whole body away from the picture.
I vaguely remember that in recent months someone quoted Sharon as having said that Laci stopped walking the dog back in November, b/c she was having trouble breathing or something.

You have a better memory than I do. Geez it's been about two years since the beginning of all this stuff.
I vaguely remember seeing the Yoga instructor. I wonder if she said that Laci quit Yoga or what due to problems? Anyways shows how much "interest" Snot had in his wife and her condition. Likewise, how much Snot and Laci communicated about her doctors visits. Didn't the Cleaning lady say Laci was sitting with her feet up or something?
Still, makes the loose dog on the leash look like a set up for sure.
Distaso spent much of his time hitting hard on Peterson's affair with Frey - the woman whom he called "sweetie" and promised "our relationship will grow" in phone conversations recorded after she began helping police, conversations which prosecutors played Tuesday afternoon.
Distaso used a slide presentation to show numerous pictures of the two, often embracing and smiling - then interchanged those photos with pictures of Laci and Scott Peterson together, also smiling and embracing.
Peterson began his affair that fall. When Frey learned through news reports of Laci Peterson's disappearance that her boyfriend was married, she faxed a photo of her and Scott Peterson to the Modesto police.
A detective confronted Peterson with the photograph.
Peterson again denied the relationship.
"He says, 'Is that supposed to be me?"' Distaso said of Peterson's reaction.
Denial was part of Scott Peterson's style, Distaso suggested.
Earlier in December, a friend of Frey's confronted Peterson after learning he was married.
"He becomes very emotional," Distaso said. "He says, 'I lost my wife ... But I still tell some people that I'm married ... But I've lost my wife and this is going to be my first holiday season without her."
By Christmas Day, Peterson was more engaged -- and talking in ways that Distaso suggested point to his guilt.
He called police, for example, to ask whether they were using cadaver-sniffing dogs in their search.
"'We haven't come to the conclusion yet that Laci Peterson is dead,"' Distaso said the officer told Peterson. "That kind of sets the stage for this entire case."
In January he contacted a realtor about selling the house, but told the realtor it had to be kept quiet(from taped conversation)
He did sell her car in January as well.
He was late to the town candle-light vigil, because he was on the phone with Amber--telling her that he was in Brussels.
He told the police that the last time he saw Laci, she was watching a Martha Stewart show with Martha preparing merigune.
Guess what?
