SENATE COVERAGE -- (June '04)
http://www.senate.gov/ ^ | 6-01-04 | US SENATE and others

Posted on 06/01/2004 4:07:32 AM PDT by OXENinFLA

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Majority and Minority

Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Thank you. Went to the doctor again today and am on so much medication I'm using little post it notes to keep track. LOL

Doctor said today he's never seen so many people so sick in our area. I'm a stickler for washing hands when coming home, etc., but something bad is in our area.

I missed it! I decided to take advantage of cooler than normal temps and anticipated slow news day and take my daughter to the zoo.

It sounds like there was a terrific press conference?

I DID hear Rush in my car earlier praising Dick Cheney's speech (who wouldn't appreciate it? we know who) and he said he had been tipped off that President Bush's speech tomorrow will rank up there with his best and also it will be moving and one should be ready with kleenex at the ready.

I really enjoyed the press conference Bush held at the end of the G8 Summit. He was on fire, shooting the questions down, making them (and me!) laugh and having a good time.

I was watching the 24/7 coverage in the Rotunda on C-SPAN.

I have been too. It has been very comforting to watch, the thousands and thousands and thousands of people in a neverending stream just filing through the Rotunda. It has also been wonderful to see dignitaries show up to pay respect. Just a short while ago, I saw George H.W. and Barbra Bush pay respect to Reagan.

My favorite part was when he goes "Clive from the BBC? Where are you Clive?" and 3 hands went up, and he goes "You can't all be Clive!" LMAO!

Anybody watching WJ? The last caller for Michael Hirsh, senior editor for Newsweek, was a real whacko! She was saying something about the FBI drugging her and forcing her to have sex with all kinds of people so they can use the videotape to embarrass her. This all started because they are covering up her husbands murder with a motorcycle gang that the FBI works with. She even called Amnesty International in London, but the more she does the worse the FBI gets, she said.

After giving her a good 40 sec. to spew, Steve asked her "Do you have a question for our guest?" Unbelievable!!!
