STARS WILL SHINE AT KERRY FUND-RAISERS (the usual suspects to perform)
NY POST ^ | 6/1/04 | CINDY ADAMS

Posted on 06/01/2004 2:40:43 AM PDT by Liz

Kindly recall I am the first to have clued you about John Kerry's June 10 fund-raiser. I now tell you more. It's called "A Change Is Going to Come." It's 6 p.m.

Two hours. Radio City Music Hall. Stars Bette Midler, who's a friend of Teresa Heinz Kerry, Whoopi Goldberg, who's a friend of William Jefferson Clinton, Robin Williams, who's a friend of anyone not Republican. Also Jon Bon Jovi, Wyclef Jean, John Mellencamp and Kerry's longtime Boston pal James Taylor. Exec producer is Jann Wenner, the Creator and Lord God Almighty and main man behind Rolling Stone magazine.

The first production is June 7 in L.A. at Disney Hall, featuring Barbra Streisand, Neal Diamond, Willie Nelson, Billy Crystal. "It took several calls to get Barbra. I know her and John himself called her.

Then came Neal. Then Willie and Billy. One manager won't commit until another confirms. Lots of egos have to be checked at the door. I had to say, 'Look, don't do it for me. Do it for the country.' The hosts are Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Ben Affleck, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman. No speeches, just intros.

Introducers are Paul Newman, Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Jessica Lange, Chevy Chase. Robin does 15 minutes; Whoopi, 15. John speaks at the end of the show." They figure to raise $7 mil. Orchestra seats are $1,000. For 25G, you can get in on the post-concert dinner for 150 VIPs at a "to be decided" venue. Possible translation of "To be decided"? They're awaiting some lovely liberal restaurateur to offer his classy joint.

The article fails to mention that Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Mullah Omar and Dr. Ayman al Zawahiri sent their regrets they couldn't attend, but have pledged to donate substantial amounts to the Kerry campaign.

Now that Lieberman's dropped out, Kerry's got the hyphenate vote tied up.

I starting watching the "Actors Studio" where the guy interviews a celebrity one-on-one for about an hour. I thought it was pretty good. Then I started to notice something. Most of the actors interviewed are dumb as stumps. If they talk about anything other than actually making a movie they can barely rub two thoughts together. Another thing is that they are acting during the interview. It is impossible for them to be themselves.

I now eschew all those shows and the idea of celebrating these people. Almost all of them (There are some exceptions) think that you and I adoring them is why they were put on this planet. I watch very few movies anymore and I never watch celebrity interviews or the adulation shows.

Maybe Rocco DeSpirito's place will be offered. The TV star of The Restaurant and proprietor of Rocco's and Union Square recently showed up at an anti-Bush rally saying nasty things about Bush.

Robin Williams is the worst at "being himself". There is no self, just the next annoying gag. I can't stand to watch him speak.

I wouldn't mind if these celebrities spoke out with thought and intelligence, but they are indeed driftwood when off the subject of acting.

Most of the actors interviewed are dumb as stumps. If they talk about anything other than actually making a movie they can barely rub two thoughts together. Another thing is that they are acting during the interview. It is impossible for them to be themselves.

If they had any brains they would be something other than actors. They also put on an act during an interview because their real selves are unattractive and they know it. I've also noticed that without the makeup, special lighting and trick photography how few of them are naturally physically attractive, as well. Ugly is as ugly does.

I now eschew all those shows and the idea of celebrating these people. Almost all of them (There are some exceptions) think that you and I adoring them is why they were put on this planet. I watch very few movies anymore and I never watch celebrity interviews or the adulation shows.

I would actually like to meet any of these people -- so that I could insult them. That I would enjoy.

A good book to read to Hollywood, Interrupted by Ebert and Breibart. It really cuts them down to size.

Keep your money in your pockets and defund the left as much as possible, TUNE OUT, TUNE OFF, HOLYWIERD. Only movie I've paid bucks for since Titanic (which I got to see free) was Mel's The Passion of the Christ.

I can wait until it comes on TV if I want to see it that badly.

Communist Vietnamese Honor John Kerry, the War Protestor, as a Hero in the Communist Victory over the United States in the Vietnam War.
In the Vietnamese Communist War Remnants Museum (formerly known as the "War Crimes Museum") in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), a photograph of John Kerry hangs in a room dedicated to the anti-war activists who helped the Vietnamese Communists win the Vietnam War. The photograph shows then-Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Kerry being greeted by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Comrade Do Muoi.
Jeffrey M. Epstein of Vietnam Vets for the Truth acquired the photograph over the Memorial Day weekend as America was commemorating its military heroes. Epstein’s organization, Vietnam Vets for the Truth, had issued a general request last week for photographs documenting Kerry’s activities on behalf of the enemy. Bob Shirley, a Vietnam Swift Boat veteran (www.pcf45.com), sent the photograph to Epstein in response to that call. Shirley recently joined over 200 other Swift Boat in signing an open letter stating that Kerry is "...not fit to be commander-in-chief."

Any reason to hope that, with all of the liberal press exposure of this event, one or two of these socialist/pacifists will go on a Gore/Dean rant against Mr Bush? Did you notice how little alGore's latest rant got media coverage and that no Dem interviewed afterward could recall the rant? Hehehe...
