"Through our history, America has gone to war reluctantly because we have known the costs of war," Bush said in the cemetery's amphitheater.
"And the war on terror we're fighting today has brought great costs of its own. Since the hour this nation was attacked, we have seen the character of the men and women who wear our country's uniform.
"We have seen the character of the men and women who wear our country's uniform in places like Kabul and Kandahar, in Mosul and Baghdad. We have seen their decency and their brave spirit," Pres. Bush told a rain-sprinkled crowd.
"Because of their fierce courage America is safer. Two terror regimes are gone forever and more than 50 million souls now live in freedom."

To all of our active-duty, reserves, retired Military and their families here at FR and on the Dose, I'd like to take this opportunity to say, thank you for your service.
Please wait until I've finished posting the pics I've found before you post any others you may have found. Thank you.
I'm hoping to see a picture of that standing "O" that the President gave his Secretary of Defense.
Holy Mackinoly, I'm just reading a thread that Kerry got heckled at the VN Memorial today! Be back in a flash.

Wish Rumsfeld could know how much his service to this nation means to so many of us.
My sincerest THANK YOU for the great photos.
I am completely mystified why this odyssey would be posted on the California topic. From California's perspective Bush is one of the contributing factors to the state's current financial and social crisis.
Putting aside all of Bush's domestic meanderings it matters not to Californians whether he's doing a good job of countering the threat of radical Islam at the front door because he is playing an active role in surrendering the sovereignty of the country at it's back door.
Members of this forum had a chance to work to replace Bush with a conservative candidate in the spring primaries but chose not to do so. They instead, chose to hold their noses for fear of a loss to the "dark side" in November. As a conservative, I certainly wished they had decided to take the risk.
That same failed logic placed a popular, liberal businessman in the Governor's office in California simply because he had an (R) after his name. Certainly the Republican Party was victorious but the people of California are already paying the price through long term indebtedness and rising taxation.
