You do what you have to do to survive. I don't blame the guy. They deserve to be lied to and he probably has family that are very relieved that he is alive.

This is a tough one...Peter denied Jesus three times, and yet still became the "Rock of the Church."
A girl at Columbine refused to denounce her faith and was murdered. Of course, chances are even if she did denounce her faith they would have shot her anyway.
This is a very tough question: is it ok to deny your faith to save your life? How "bad" of a lie is this? Is it worse because you're sort of "reverse witnessing" or would it be worse to die and not be able to live and witness to more people?

Nor I. It is the duty of all non-Muslimes to lie to the scum. But unlike the Joprdanian here, I would not tell the world I had lied, one knows that Jordan is a hot bed for the creeps ter perps.

But seeing as how proof of Islamhood is mere recitation of a short phrase, it seems Islams would have no way to know if any of the 1.2 billion Muslims around the world are actually Islami, or if that actually means anything at all.

I disagree. There is everything wrong with lying. Who is the father of ALL lies? I don't know what I would have done in this man's shoes therefore I will not pass condemnation on him. But, to repay evil with evil ( lying, in this case )goes against what Christ taught. Also, did Christ not say, "whoever shall lose his life for My name sake shall gain it"(paraphrased)? All in all, it is between this man and God regarding his denial of his Christianity. I pray that if the day comes that I am forced to make a choice, that I will be like those many before me who bravely looked into the eyes of those who were about to murder them for their faith and say "I will proclaim Him until my end."

I know that you are incorrect.
There may be nothing wrong with you lying...but the Word says if you are a born again believer in Christ and you deny Him to Man [it doesn't qualify the circumstances, what race or religion of Man] he'll deny you to the Father.
My prayer is that God'll grant him repentance unto the acknowledgment of the truth.
