I also read all the Left Behind books, but they do not portray the Catholic viewpoint of the Second Coming of Christ and the rapture accurately. I just considered them fiction.

Did you say spin? That was easy:

Christianity Today says in a June editorial that it is "certainly appropriate" for bishops to expect a Catholic president to submit to Vatican authority.

"submit to Vatican authority" is the spin to try to cause fear about a "Christian" theocracy running the country...like in the 60's when they tried the same with kennedy.

Didn't work then - won't work now. Why?

Because Christians are good ... leftist democrats are evil!

"Are you now protestant or catholic?"

Typical of the Catholic ignorant - I say:

Are you a Christian or are you a protestant?

Methinks thou doth protest too much!

"Typical of the Catholic ignorant"

was meant to say:

"Those who are Ignorant about Catholics"

Being born again is not evangelical terminology, it came straight from the mouth of our Savior:

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God....16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. "

This is Catholic Truth, straight from the Lord's mouth.

Its not enough just to believe, one must also be born OF WATER and the Holy Spirit. Being "born again" is being BAPTIZED into the Family of God AND believing, according to John 3:5 and 16.

Sounds to me like they are trying to build a rift between Catholics and Evangelicals to help the Dem candidate.

I wish I shared your optimism. The sexual abuse scandals in the Cahtolic Church has weakened its influence greatly. And, sad to say, many Evangelicals in America (especially in the black community) go to church, sing, clap, shout, dance and then go into a voting booth and vote for a party and/or a candidate who is in favor of killing little unborn babies and who have no problem with homosexual marriages.

Many Evangelicals,so called, still choose money over morality. You know the old cliche': The Democrats are for the working man and the Republicans are for the rich". Yeah, right. Shut up losers.

No doubt...we are talking about the NY Times, after all.

I hope all Christians can remember that despite our theological and liturgical differences, we are all (or should be) on the same side in the battle to defeat the culture of death.

"Are you a Christian or are you a protestant?
Methinks thou doth protest too much!"

Methinks by definition thou Protestants protestest Catholicism thus thereby deeming thyselves PROTESTants.

Since all denominations of non-Catholic Christianity are historically based in Luther's protestation of the Catholic Church and its rules the term Protestant has come to denote all non-Catholic Christian sects under one umbrella term.

Typical of the Protestant ignorant - I say:

Are you a Catholic or are you a Protestant?

--ZING!!!-- :)

"But I do know that I never heard anything but fairly good comments about both JFK and Nixon in my extended family and my conservative (mainstream Church of Christ)."

Different around my place. My mother (maiden name O'Brien) was always on about the Kennedys. Or, "Those inbred shanty Irish trash," as she was wont to call them.
