House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that it took "great courage" for her to bash President Bush two weeks ago as "an incompetent leader . . . who has no judgment, no experience and no knowledge of the subjects that he has to decide upon" - explaining that she leveled the incendiary criticism to help U.S. troops in Iraq.
"I made the statement that I did - and I think with great courage, if I might say about myself - because I am worried about the troops on the ground in Iraq," Pelosi told "Meet the Press."
"Believe me, I said this for the troops. I said this for the troops. [It was] a cry for help for the troops," she insisted.

looking forward to the rebroadcast at 10.
heavens. the dumbocrats are just losing it. if they
aren't raving insanely (dean, gore) or drunkenly (kennedy),
now they're bursting into tears.
what could be next?
I thought of gunplay, but the Dems cannot tolerate firearms. (anyway, that's what they say, but I figure most are packing)
maybe they'll throw condoms at us.
Nope. Marin's in the sixth district ( Lynn Woolsey). The Nan'ster's from the eighth district.... east side of San Francisco. You can thank the gay mafia for her presence.
*sniff*
that was such a courageous comment.
heck. how did I get that confused? same area though, yes?
Yes. This is how the East Coast Elitist Socialists think, to be sure. They are so certain in their knowledge of how to run our lives, and they are sure that we don't grasp their "superior" wisdom, and so they understand that they must obscure the facts to obtain power that we would not otherwise grant to them, and they are astonished when they do not get away with it sometimes. Refer to the Communist Manifesto for more details regarding their plans.
virulent harridan.
she wasn't quite as out of control as I thought she may have
been. ten thousand references to general zinni, "george
bush is a good person" (wtf was THAT?), and these lame-ass
dems think that we can drag the worthless damn french into
the conflict by "having a plan" and "not taking no for
an answer." simpletons.
and one more face lift, and her eyes are going to pop out of
her skull.
enough watching the dems self-destruct. back to the dodgers
on ESPN.
Yeppers... same area... same politics.
The only thing worse is when journalists praise their own courage under "fire".
OK, so let me get this straight, Nancy: If the number of dead American soldiers was approximately 600 as opposed to about 800, you would have been satisfied with a DOD report that would have said that the troops were equipped as well as could be expected, and you would have no complaint with the way Bush was conducting the war.
Sure, Nancy. Sure.
Oh, yeah, by the way, about that equipment that was not in Iraq protecting our troops...did you vote to supply more of the stuff throughout your tenure in Congress, or did you make some touchy-feely statement about how the teachers' unions schools not getting all the dough they need?
typical. there are over 100,000 troops on the ground in
two countries fighting terrorists, and her only example
of courage is calling the president of the united states
a "meanie" and a "doody head" behind his back. and when
she gets called out on it in the slightest way, she gets
all misty and babbles something about it being all for the
troops in the first place.
that tells you something, if you think about it.
"simpletons"
How quaint! I believe that's exactly what Gore called Bush. Just another perfect example of the typical liberal projection technique!
I agree .. if "Bush is a good person", then how can you call him incompetent, inept, and a cowboy.
LOL!!
I've also heard Ollie say that he got two, then he wouldn't accept any more because then they might have tried to send him home. It sounds crazy, but that would mbe dishonorable to Col. North. Who ought to get a damn star just for being a great American Hero and a heck of a good man.
This is from a post of mine last week about Pelosi's record of "leadership" and "experience" versus that of her all-but doomed Republican opponent in San Francisco, Jennifer DePalma:
By contrast, check out Pelosi's bio. It doesn't say anything about how Pelosi was given this seat (following the death of Sala Burton, widow of longtime Demo power broker Phillip Burton) with not a lick of legislative or legal experience. So how did San Fran Nan get this plush gig? It was a reward from the Burton machine for her acumen as a fundraiser for the California Democratic Party, which she served as chair from 1981-1983.But her bio doesn't tell you that. What it does is list her "accomplishments" and "leadership" AFTER her appointment, such as the fact that she is the first female minority leader, her concern for medical research into women's health issues, chemical pollutants and AIDS. It's pretty durn thin stuff for seventeen years.
Under "Personal story," there is even less: she tells us that she is the daughter of one mayor of Baltimore, MD and the brother of another (So what? George W. Bush's dad was President and his brother is a governor), and that she graduated from Trinity College in D.C. in 1962. No details about degrees, or post-graduate work, or cum laudes. She graduated, OK??? Finally, she speaks about her hubby, Paul Pelosi, and their five kids and the number of grandkids they have. Awwww. Here's what's left unsaid: Born into a local political family, she married into another local pol family; Paul's brother Ron is a former San Francisco Supervisor and an uncle of current mayor Gavin Newsom.
Take it from someone who lives in her district: She goes pretty much unnoticed around here except to folks in the SF political elite and in her neighborhood. She doesn't do anything FOR San Francisco other than to serve as the standard-bearer of Sin Freaksicko politics and as the retriever of occasional chunks of budget pork (such as a totally unnecessary underground trolley extension from the SBC Park/CalTrain station region to Chinatown).
I can't imagine having a Congresswoman who actually has some knowledge of the law, some perspective about the role of government (as is evidenced by her work at the Cato Institute), and not just the "art" of gotcha politics. Unfortunately, imagining that idea may be the best I can do.
Thank you. It took real guts to point that out.
