This might be the last year [Robby Gordon or anyone for that matter] can attempt the Memorial Day weekend double. Officials at ABC have discussed the possibility of pushing the starting time of the Indy 500 back by a couple of hours to help with TV ratings.
If that happens, the chance of anyone competing in both races is diminished.
"It would mess it up, but it is what it is," Gordon said. "I think that would be a mistake on the IRL's side because then Tony Stewart or myself would never be able to come over and compete.
"It would get them better TV ratings. But if they had drivers like Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart there, their ratings would probably go up as well."
AJ Jr was not pleased with IV. Said the kid wouldn't keep his foot out of it, even when the setup was bad, and this was the second ride he'd smooked the Indy wall with.
oh, here we go, old races....
Keith Jackson and Jackie Stewart...haha
The speedway sure doesnt want it to go to a second day...they lose a ton of money with the PD and workers being paid a second day....
If anyone cares to follow the Coca Cola 600 live thread, it's over here... race coverage starts in just under 2 hours...
NASCAR Nextel Cup - Coca Cola 600 from Charlotte - on FOX Sun 5/30, 5 pm EDT/2 pm PDT
Now it seems like every other year we go through this. The weather tomorrow will be better, on the REAL Memorial Day and not on Sunday.
Pbbbt. Tony George has wrecked the race. It is not nearly as interesting as when I was younger.
those guys are on Medicare.
well, CART shouldn't have tried to shaft Tony George when he wanted to field a team - you can't shaft the guy who owns the race track that defines your entire sport. so he snapped back.
I remember when IRL was first formed...and how confident CART would be they would crush them....Hahaha...where is CART now? Tony George was right that the sponsors would want to be at Indy....not Mexico City or Japan.

Tony George can do what he wants...its a privately owned track and race. But I do wish they would change the dates.
Is it still red flagged? I see cars going around but I'm not listening. Somehow Andrea Bocelli sounded like a good combination with Indy cars!
Later I'll get Garth Brooks out when the real racing starts!! ;-)
Exactly. The split was a serious setback to open wheel racing the USA.
they ought to get on the same page - both of them, get behind the new FIA 2.4L V8 format for Formula One - this way the entire world has one format for the engine.
To a certain extent, I think CART did itself in, with sudden bizzare mid-season rule and regulation changes that favored one manufacturer over another. It's hard to keep teams when when they're being jerked around.
these restarts take way too long.
I hope we get 1,000 posts on the Coca Cola thread tonight too..
I guess we should have an Over/Under on number of smoked engines and trannies .. I'll say .. 5 Cya there..
Pretty good Indy 500 race since they restarted it,, Foyt the 4th hasn't crashed again.. yet. ;-)

4 wide on the straight, 3 wide in some corners after it went green.
