I thought Tora, Tora, Tora was a great movie to give you the behind the scenes workings of the United States and Japan hours before the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Battle of the Bulge, and Patton also come to mind.
The Battle of Britian is also a good one.
Favorite though... I'm still thinking on that one.
